What to do and see in The Hill, Missouri (MO): The Best Things to do

December 7, 2021 Kiesha Cripe

The history of St. Louis has been heavily influenced by Westward expansion and blues music. The big "must-see" in this region is the Gateway Arch, while other important sites include the Museum of Westward Expansion, the St. Louis Cathedral and the Anheuser-Busch factory tour. The city offers plenty for the whole family. Children will enjoy the local zoo and the Magic House, while family members will also want to unwind at Forest Park, home to the World's Fair almost a century ago.

Ken and his team do a great job of running this place. I stop here EVERY time I am in STL. Great variety of soaps and bath products, made in the shop. Even if you are not a soap person their factory tour ( which is understandably on hold during the pandemic) is fun and educational. The still do their scavenger hunt for kids.

I shop at Di Gregorio's to stock up on deli items, frozen pasta, sauces and some great pantry items. It's always tasty. I'm reviewing because I recently sent DiGregorio's medium-sized Italian Dinner gift baskets to three out-of-town relatives, and they loved them. So nice to be able to send a little love from St. Louis in these difficult times, and my relatives said the pasta sauce, pastas and wine made for festive dinners. Thanks, Di Gregorio's, I will order these baskets again.

2nd Shift Brewing

Reviewed By ladeebugged - Saint Louis, United States

Being locals, we are doing our best to make our way to all the craft breweries to get a taste of the nectar straight from the spout. THIS, was not one that we originally on our radar, and happened more or less just because we were in the area (Modern Brewery is not far down the road). But I'm glad we stopped- this is now one of our favorite craft breweries in town. The venue itself isn't much to talk about- typical warehouse fashion. However, there is plenty of seating indoors, and a few tables outdoors too. PROS- 1) The IPAs here are some of the best in town. I was NOT an IPA drinker until 2nd Shift. We left there this past Saturday night with $150 of to-go beer! (it tastes almost as good at our house) 2) Family-friendly environment: this place practically begs you to bring your kiddos along. There are a ton of community board games for the kids (And adults), an arcade game that is free to play, HIGH CHAIRS (for the bambinos), and even changing tables in the bathrooms. This is AMAZING for us parent people who also like to enjoy a fresh craft beer now and then without forking out $15/hr for a babysitter. Our kids (4 & 6) don't mind going to 2nd Shift at all- they think it's a fun place. CONS- 1) Location- not convenient and/or easy to find Just go drink it already!
