Gun stores are gun stores, right? Not this one. They have an indoor range but that's still not the best part. The salespeople are very knowledgeable and can help a novice as well as an expert.

I turned 60 last weekend and just returned from a trip to the Smokies with my daughter. She lives in CA and asked me if we could spend some time together and have some adventure. Equipped with a "new to me" 2017 Jeep Wrangler "Smoky Mountain" edition, I thought why not head to the Smoky Mountains and give it a try. We spent some time in a beautiful campground (Big Creek), but the absolute highlight of our trip was spending the day with Dan @ Outdoor in the Smokies. Dan is the consummate professional. He's incredibly knowledgable about off-road adventure and has put together a classroom style learning environment that my daughter and I really enjoyed. He's also an excellent trainer. He's developed a very nice training format to give people the necessary fundamentals "in-class" and then takes it all to the next level by having us get in our own vehicle and via CB Radio, we follow him and he takes us through his 60 acres of trails. Had I not taken this class, I would have never known what my Jeep (or me) was capable of. This should be a required class for anyone who has bought a 4 wheel vehicle and was simply handed the keys. I have incredible confidence now, knowing all of the details of my vehicle and the "when, why's and how's". My daughter (who doesn't own a jeep) also found it very educational and fun. Shortly after hitting the trails with Dan, we had lunch, went back up into the trails and ended-up renting a log cabin from Dan. The site is very nice, quiet, clean and the perfect way to end a great day. I highly recommend Dan and his 1-day Off-Road instruction. The classroom education in the morning is a little long (but necessary), so I'd probably rule this out for small children, but if you have teems that may be getting behind the wheel, while on the trails - I think they will find it pretty interesting.

I have visited Templar Shooting Sports many times since its opening in the fall of last year and I have always had a great experience. These great group of people always treat us like family, they are always helpful and courteous and very knowledgeable. The business is always clean and well lite; they have many different products in stock and what they do not have in firearms they can get within a day or two. They have yearly and lifetime memberships available for those avid shooters and classes every month for carry conceal, basic pistol education and defensive pistol. Do yourself a favor and stop in and see Rich, Mark and the rest of the guys if you love shooting or even if you are thinking about learning; they will be able to help you with any and everything. There is even a chapter of The Well Armed Woman that meets here for you ladies!

This is an outdoor range like no other. The atmosphere here is much more friendly and fun than any other range I’ve visited. It’s a perfect place people of all experience levels. They have fun rental guns, including full autos and a 50BMG! They also offer private and group lessons, carry classes and regular matches that are very addictive, even for beginners. This is a must for anyone living nearby of visitors to surrounding destinations. The range is located inside Windrock Park which offers cabin rentals, camping and off road vehicle rentals. It’s a great place to spend a few hours or a few days.

We had been looking for an outdoor shooting range and found Dead Zero on the internet. We decided to take a ride (just over an hour from our house) to check it out in January and fire some shots through our new rifle. I could not have been more pleased with our first visit. All the folks were very nice, and GM Matt even spent a lot of time on the rifle range with us helping us learn about our new rifle. We went back a second time a few weeks later and decided to purchase the yearly membership since we wanted to spend more time getting comfortable and more accurate with our rifles and handguns. Justin, Matt, Scott and the rest of the Dead Zero folks have been very helpful for us as fairly new gun owners. The facility is very nice too and offers many options. We also decided to sign up for a couples lesson. Justin put us in touch with Dan Rosario. Dan is a retired Marine and law enforcement officer who brings a lot of passion and expertise to his lessons. I will say that the lesson exceeded our expectations. In the 2 hours with Dan our confidence level was definitely improved. We still have a lot of work to do but Dan provided a great foundation for us to build on and provided lots of tips for us to help improve our accuracy. We look forward to another lesson with Dan in a few months to continue our progression.

First of all I am relatively new to using a pistol. Since the purchase of my pre-owned pistol I have been to the Nashville Armory Franklin range 3 times. I just completed the TN Handgun Carry Permit Course at the Nashville Armory Franklin location. My instructor Jason Edgeley was fantastic. What I didn't need was someone that could only recite the TN Code and Jason was the right person that could break it down into everyday language that I could understand. It's a huge responsibility to decide to carry and I received the information that I needed to do it right. Jason encouraged lots of interaction with the class and I felt comfortable to ask questions and get the answers I needed. The classroom experience consisted of the state mandated PowerPoint classroom training and range certification. Jason is capable of taking the classroom material and tailoring it to meet the individual needs of all of the students. The range certification was a great experience. You get the tips that a seasoned professional knows to help you be successful.

Buds Gun Shop & Range

Reviewed By RobertDTenn - Knoxville, United States

I am a local and I've been to Bud's many times over the years. The worst I can say about them is that they can be very busy at certain times and you will have to wait your turn in those cases. Their selection is quite impressive and the store is clean and feels quite comfortable. I have purchased from them many times and every time I received a new and perfect product. I hear some of the questions from people new to shooting every time I go there and I can only imagine how difficult it can be to keep every single person happy that walks into that store. Overall I would highly recommend anyone that is looking to purchase a firearm to check out Buds. Anyone that has been shooting for awhile knows that Buds has been around for a long time and they are a highly respected business and worth your consideration.
