The annual Orchid Show is one of the highlights of the year. While wonderful in the day -on Friday and Saturday nights, the NYBG sells ticket for 6:30, 7:30or 8:30 entrance. Go for the 6:30 entrance as you will get to see the gorgeous flowers in day light as well as artfully lit in the evening. Plus music is piped in and there are three bar stations. What a fun and beautiful evening experience.

Tenafly Nature Center

The Tenafly Nature Center is a non-profit member-supported nature preserve. Our mission is to protect almost 400 wooded acres, all of its inhabitants and teach the next generations to do the same. Since 1961, TNC has nurtured an appreciation for nature, been a leader in open-space preservation and in environmental education for our community in Tenafly, Bergen County, and beyond. When trails are open we welcome visitors to hike, bird-watch, observe wildlife, cross-country ski, snow-shoe and ice skate on Pfister's Pond.

So grateful to have access to the trails at the Tenafly Nature Center to go for a walk, breathe deeply, open my eyes and clearly think through challenges without the distraction of cars, computers, etc.

This is a very worthwhile nonprofit organization to support and a beloved space in Tenafly.

This is one of the very interesting look out points on the Palisades Parkway. The views of New York and the Hudson River are fascinating.

The small restaurant serves basic American hot foods, and my recent American cheese sandwich was perfectly prepared.

The decorations are rustic and and aimed at the hiking crowd, but some of the items are very interesting in their own right.

The Inn also has a great collection of books about the New Jersey area.

Several towns in this area of New Jersey have nature centers, and this one is really good for adults and kids.

We walked the Nine Bridges Trail in the northeast section of the center, which has the greatest variety of plants and animals. We were on the lookout for several of the usual residents, including Baltimore Oriole, Northern Mockingbird, Wood Thrush and Cedar Waxwing. Look for Belted Kingfisher, Snowy Egret, Great Blue Heron or even a Wood Duck along the brook.

Snapping turtles also enjoy the brook, and. Box turtles have also been seen here, and if you are lucky enough to spot one, please observe it from at least ten feet away.

We saw the Baltimore Oriole and a snapping turtle, but found peace and quiet which was much more important.

Overpeck County Park

The north section in Leonia has been open for many years but last year, the southern part was renovated, a new environmentally friendly bridge was installed to cross the Overpeck; new playing fields in the Ridgefield Park section, walking/biking/jogging trails begin in Leonia and head over to Ridgefield Park. Amphitheater on the Ridgefield Park side has had concerts. Watch the horses go through their paces on the Leonia side. Dog park is on the north side, kayak/canoe launch on the south side. Load s of parking and beautiful views of the creek/lake. Incredible to have this treasure 5 minutes from the GWB. Bus 172 from the NY side of the GWBBS takes you down Fort Lee Road to the entrance of the park (or Rockland Bus line 11A runs on Grand Avenue and stops at Fort Lee Road (2 blocks east of the park). If you're in the Ridgefield Park side watching the kids in the playing field and look east, you'll see the skyline of midtown Manhattan (and the World Trade Center).

Had fun with Kayaking. The Kayak rentals are to the right of Fort Lee Road/Overpeck Park Driveway intersection, via the wooden bridges. The staff there were quite friendly and helpful. Just a note that Canoes are not available everyday there, so better inquire before visiting. Kids under 5 are not allowed, and kids under 8 are allowed on canowe ONLY with two accompanying adults. Also went to the dinosaurs field station nearby.

Bergenpac is located conveniently in the center of Englewood, there is ample parking around and many good restaurants nearby.
The venue is spacious and seating is very comfortable and sound is pretty good too.
The venue is used for anything from community events to world class performers.
They do a lot of education and local community outreach.
It is a local gem, offering drama and variety, comedy shows, classical music and ballet and more.
The volunteers and staff are very nice and responsive as well.
Good for everyone really, including older patrons and families with younger children depending on performance.
