Superb maintenance both outside and inside.

For anyone interested in Hudson Valley colonial dutch architecture, this is an essential stop. The house was built in 1700 and the date is marked in glazed brick.

Washington state here during the trial, signing of the death warrant and hanging of British spy major John Andre.

Washington served Andre with meals in this house during that period.

"He was more unfortunate than criminal,
An accomplished man and a gallant officer."

Thought-provoking history.

The chef uses whatever vegetables and fruits are in season and creates dishes around them . I recommend the risotto , fish tacos, goffle chicken and Creme brûlée, just to name a few! This place never disappoints.

Our guide, Jim, gave such an informative, interesting tour of the mansion. You came away feeling you really got to know a lot about the people who had lived there! Every room was breathtaking in furnishings and decorations for Christmas! This was a perfect time to visit! Even though the mansion is very large, it felt like a home...just lovely!

This place has been around a long time and we've been here quite a few times. I still don't know about the food but the opportunity to sit and listen to live music in a relaxed setting makes it well worth a visit. Buy a ticket before you go as it's a small venue and can be sold out.

Tallman Mountain State Park

Reviewed By 0libbyt - Nanuet, New York

Tallman State Park is a gem of a park. Traveling north on 9W after Palisades, NY and before Piermont, you'll see a sign for the park on the right. Park in the large lot and hike up the little hill on the right. There is an easy flat walk good for those who don't like rocks and roots, but the best walk is to go straight over the flat path onto the green marked trail. Follow that through the woods until it splits. I recommend taking the left path, not the green path, as it leads you to beautiful overlooks of the Hudson River. You can continue on, cross the brook, and end up back on the flat path or retrace your steps. Heading in the opposite direction on the green path are picnic tables.

I took the Kykuit house tour of the home and grounds. I did not expect to see such spectacular views and a Picasso art collection that was so extensive. Our guide, "Merla" was a treasure. She made every room and outdoor view come alive. The weather that day could not be better and the grounds were as interesting as the home. Be sure to go on a day when good weather is predicted. You will be amazed at the sheer beauty of the location as well as the extensive and priceless art collection. What was particularly special was how close you could get to the objects. So much better than any museum.
