What to do and see in Sydney, New South Wales: The Best Beaches

August 6, 2021 Enedina Augsburger

Sydney offers plenty of historical and contemporary Australian flavor. The marvelous Sydney Opera House looks like a great origami sailboat, floating peacefully in a harbor. Wander the narrow cobblestone streets of The Rocks and then take in a street performance on the Circular Quay before heading into the Museum of Contemporary Art. The views from the Sydney Tower Eye observatory are epic – use this chance to get to know the layout of the city from high above.

Bondi Beach

Bondi Beach is famous for its glistening ocean, pristine sands, reliable surf and seaside spirit. It's laid back coastal lifestyle, cafe culture, boutique shops and thriving, eclectic community is equally enticing.

Having beautiful beaches at my country home and visiting the most beautiful beaches in the world I can say that bondi is almost perfect. The sand is soft and white as you can get, the sea is a beautiful blue BUT the water is freezing cold. That is the reason I don’t give it a 10 but an 7. Despite that, the vibe, sand sea and restaurants around makes it great. Be aware, if you go with kids, that there are ton of topless all around.

Camp Cove

While staying in Watson’s Bay, I highly recommend a walk to Camp Cove Beach and beyond to the South Head trail. This little beach is tranquil midweek, and has the most awesome views back to the CBD. The water was crystal clear the day we visited and the beach extremely clean. It’s an awesome little hideaway and the walks from there are scenic and easy for most people. The photo opportunities are numerous and the little beachside kiosk is super cute.

Catch a ferry - any one be it the fast or slow ferry and get over to Manly!! Great beaches...fabulous cafes (best ones are in the laneways and off the main beach and Corso - Whistler St is great)!! Lots to see...shopping (Bow & Arrow is the best)...bike riding...walks along the beach front to Shelley Beach and North Head. Too much to do in one day - stay for at least a few nights. Clovelly Beach

Reviewed By lowping - Sydney, Australia

Clovelly is a great beach for snorkeling as it has a protective wall that keeps the man eaters out. Concrete runs along both sides making Clovelley more of a huge ocean pool than a beach. Lots of marine life to see. Great for swimming with plenty of parking. If you're experienced in the water head around to the south carpark area and give Gordon's bay a try.
