Susanville (formerly known as Rooptown) is the county seat of Lassen County, California, United States. Susanville is located on the Susan River in the southern part of the county, at an elevation of 4,186 feet (1,276 m). The population was 17,974 in the 2010 census, up from 13,541 in the 2000 census. Much of the population increase is related to persons held at two state prisons in the city.

If you’re a California history or cemetery buff, you need to stop by Peter Lassen’s grave. Not only is there a photogenic marker to see, but there are also headstones of former Lassen County residents. A picnic table with beautiful views of meadows filled with sheep, cattle and horses in addition to area birds and pines, makes this site worth the short trip out of your way when visiting Lassen County.

Went here lots of times , every time im in susanville I go to the trail.love it. Very beautiful nature, a river running through it. My son and I had a little swim in the river. There are beautiful snakes in it. They are harmless. A great place to spend time with family or by yourself.

The garden area is organized nicely without being uniform. The staff is helpful and honest about what does well in the area. The landscaping ideas with their products helps to envision how plant groupings will look together. Prices are high but the gardening advice is worth paying more.
