THE SOUTHERNMOST DISTILLERY ON THE AFRICAN CONTINENT From the sleepy coastal town of Still Bay, mother and son team Lorna and Rohan Scott produce a fine range of unique spirits with the help of nature's bounty of aromatic, medicinal and culinary herbs. Famous for their handcrafted gins, rum and liqueur, their products are pot-distilled from indigenous Fynbos grown on their property and surrounds. Their gins, of which three varieties are produced, are made in small, individually numbered batches of 750 bottles at a time.

We visit Inverroche every year while on holiday. What a pleasant surprise to see all the changes they made this year. Make sure you pre-book well in advance when you visit December/ January. 1st visit was for our group of 15 to do the gin tasting in the new tasting room, followed by cocktails in the new gin garden and lounge - wherever you find Seating!
Our next visit was to attend the 2+ hour gin school, where you distill your own gin. What an amazing experience. Infuse the alcohol with the flavors of your choice. Taste your gin afterwards as well. Cannot wait to go back next holiday.

Received awesome advice and service in regards to supplements. All the staff were very well informed and friendly. Was very happy with the in-house manufactured bath salts bought there. We did the cheese and wine tasting and they showed us a DVD about the history of the farm and family, nice outing, staff are very good. You ca; chose the craft beer or wine tasting with the cheeses. Cheddar cheeses are made with fennel, raisens and onions. There is a Terrace where you can sit and relax, you cannot see how they make cheeses for hygiene reasons. Don’t expect to much, you can move onto to other attractions such as Botterkloof resort to have lunch and site see around the area

Lying west of the Goukou River mouth, in a sheltered inlet called "Skulpiesbaai" , are these ancient fish traps which are certainly worth a visit. The area is very rocky - hence the presence of the traps as the building material is close at hand. We visited at low tide - the best time for viewing these ingenious structures - its mind-blowing to think they were built so long ago!

Before you plan this walk, make sure that it will be low tide when you return on the second half of the trip. Sunglasses, sunblock, hats, good walking shoes and water, camera and water are a must. Optional, if you have a rugsack, take food, refreshments, bathers, goggles and snorkel to make the most of the sea and the beach. The first half of this spectacular circular walk takes about 50 minutes to 1 hour brisk walking (or 2 hours really slow and taking in the scenery) through the Geelkrans Nature Reserve through indigenous, dune fynbos and renosterveld for about 3 to 4km. This is the first half of the trip. This is rather easy for fit walkers. Here and there you will be able to spot the ocean through the fynbos from high above and admire Still Bay in the distance. At the end of the 3 to 4km, you will be blown away by the spectacular view down below and of the ocean stretching from east to west. From there you will descent on a zig zag path down the cliff, so if you're afraid of heights, not a good idea, but it is rather easy to walk down with ease. At the bottom, you will return back west to Still Bay. Admire the yellow sand cliffs, the rock pools, the birds and picnic wherever your heart chooses. There are fabulous spots all along the way back to sit in the shade under the overhanging cliffs. So find a spot almost halfway back. There are so many gorgeous spots to choose. The walk back will take about 1 hour brisk walking or 2 hours taking it really slow. Bear in mind that you might have to climb over a couple of rocks on your way back. Nothing too hectic. The trick is to come back when it is low tide... less rocks to climb. This is most definitely one of my favourite hikes! A true hidden gem in the Western Cape. What I really love is that its safe... you're far away from the crowds and in the middle of nature. Love it! To be done over and over again...

I was just so impressed with these Gardens - a wonderful community project to beautify the town! I like the fact that its an ongoing work in progress too.
It is not only aesthetically pleasing but it also affords the layman an insight into the indigenous plants of the area - the plants all have identification labels, so no guesswork needed.
I liked the medicinal and poionous plant sections, but was very impressed with the Braille Trail, with its roped walkways for safe and easy access as well as the Braille info on each of the concrete plinths.
I applaud this super project - it exemplifies the civic-mindedness of the residents of this small coastal town.

This Blue Flag beach is lovely to visit and is regarded as the best place to swim in Stilbaai. There is a sizable car park which also serves the patrons at Lappiesbaai restaurant. The pristine white sands stretch for as far as the eye can see and if you decided to hike eastwards, take everything you need, as there are no kiosks, cafes or the like... just kilometre after kilometres of unspoilt, uncommercialised coastline... once you pass Preekstoel, you are in a marine conservancy area, with stunning vistas in all directions. Heaven on earth!
