Silver Falls State Park

A park located in the state's only rain forest, with beautiful waterfalls and hiking trails.

Reviewed By BoboTravlr - Los Angeles, California

We were visiting OR for the first time and thought we might visit Benson Bridge and the falls there when our relative suggested Silver Falls State Park instead. We really enjoyed the pleasant hike to the majority of the falls. Many of them allowed a walk behind the falls which was unique in itself. The hike itself was a rolling type of hike with some ups and downs but not too strenuous overall. You are regularly treated to views of beautiful falls. The park trails are well maintained and there is little trash to be seen. Overall, one of the best parks we have visited anywhere in the US. The volunteers and staff really make the park a treasure.

Stayton-Jordan Bridge

The Stayton Jordan Covered Bridge is amazing. I had come out to Stayton on a reconnaissance mission after studying photos on the internet of the covered bridge. The bridge is located in a very nice park that has nice restrooms and the park is inhabited by a beautiful red headed woodpecker. I walked across the covered bridge, it was a bucket list duty to perform and snapped some pictures. As mentioned before by another writer, it is a great place for a picnic, a wedding, special occasion, and it would have been a perfect place to photograph this one model, nearly six foot tall blonde woman, in a pin striped business suit. There is something about a woman in a business suit that drives me wild! A woman in a business suit is my idea of art! It would be so great. Like the line in a movie, "Here I am, a man of all this vision and the rest of the world wears bi-focals" I highly recommend you visit the Stayton-Jordan Bridge.

We picked peaches and blackberries here this year for the first time. Loved the price ($1.15 for u-pick for peaches). They have a Tractor that has a nice easy on and off ramp ( step) that takes you right to where you want to go and brings you back and helps carry your heavy boxes to the stand.
