Nossa Senhora da Penha Convent

Reviewed By Ricardo R - Mogi das Cruzes, SP

It´s cheap to go there from vitória city by taxi or uber, we can also catch a bus to Vila Velha bus terminal which is not far away from the entrance. At the entrance there are vans to take us uphill ( R$4,00 round trip ) or for those who like walking just go on foot. No entrance fees and we can walk inside the church and take pictures all around the place. We can see all Vitória bay and the city of Vila Velha.

O Convento De Nossa Senhora Do Monte Do Carmo

Reviewed By Andrew R

We had limited time in Vitoria and I'm very glad we chose the Convento de Nossa Senhora as one of the places we visited. We chose to drive to the parking area at the top near the church which made it very convenient. Our visit was particularly special because there was a service happening when we arrived. The chapel is simple but elegant. The kids had a great time exploring the grounds around the church. This was a great family activity...and it was free.

Itaunas Beach

Reviewed By Salles1970 - Sao Paulo, SP

All I wanted was to take my kids to a real wild beach where they could learn about nature and where we could enjoy Brazilian 'winter' holidays under 30 degrees Celsius. I got it all and much more. The original town was covered in sand and the families had to move cross the river - a lesson learnt about spoiling nature, eh? The kids had a chance to visit the museum where history can be compared to photos and a peep look through the hotel window. Amazing sceneries, fresh and tasty food, kind citizens and great price. Downsize = there are no hospitals or gas stations in the town. In case you travel during the 'forro' festival be ready to be awake with loud, really loud music day/nigh in/out. Best time = After the festival is over the town is calm, the best places offer the best price and it´s ideal for families and children.

There are plenty of great Beaches. Some may prefer to miss the beach crowding during the warm season. There are great eateries nearby. I liked Padres beach for it's natural beauty and bodysurfing.

Igreja dos Reis Magos

Reviewed By bobmauro1966 - Vitoria, ES

The church and the residence/school beside it are a very important exemple of Jusuit's work in Brasil. It was constructed in 16th centure and keeps it's originality. It's simple and strong - as were the colonial religious buildings in the beginning of colonisation. In the top of o hill, in front of the see and beside a river - the strategic location!

Some reviews here mix up the "Convento da Penha" with the Mosteiro Zen. This Mosteiro zen is a real and present zen monastery, subject to visits only on Sundays and pre-booked. It is located about one and a half hour drive from the Capital city os the State of Espírito Santo, Vitória. And indeed pays the visit! It is a beautiful area, all planted, gardened and preserved by the monks, whose leader is DAIJU, a Brazilian who was born in this region, who spent ten years in Japan, and founded this place.
