If you like breathtaking water views, a sandy beach, rocky ledges, a walking/running path, grassy picnic areas, sitting areas and shade trees this park is perfect for you. The area is very family friendly with many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. There are restrooms and water fountains in building by the beach. There is also a concession area there but you will need to check the hours. It was closed when we were there. The parking is $25 per car!!

Mianus River Park

I have both hiked and biked here. I'd recommend bringing bug spray, as the bugs can be bad at times. For the bikers out there this spot offers trails for all levels. Some trails have more rocks and roots than others but there are also smooth paths too! There are many trails to choose from! The cave trail offers a view of a cave! While other trails will give you the classic New England feel with rock walls visible throughout the wooded area. No matter which trail you choose to explore you'll enjoy it!

Bartlett Arboretum

The Bartlett Arboretum is a beautiful, natural park with wilderness trails, amazing specimens of trees and immense planting beds of flowers and shrubs. There are self-guided tours (with audio accompaniment via smartphone) describing the collection. An indoor nature center hosts lectures and arts performances and on weekends, Yoga classes are conducted out of doors. Great places for families with kids. And don't miss Sunday evening concerts in the summer. Best of all, the grounds are free admission.
