What to do and see in St. Pete Beach, Florida (FL): The Best Free Things to do

January 9, 2022 Sachiko Swiger

Sugary-white sand, dolphins frolicking just off shore and eight major barrier islands make St. Pete Beach a postcard-perfect seaside destination. Situated on a peninsula off Florida's west coast, it balances its oceanfront charms with top-notch art museums, including the largest collection of Salvador Dali paintings outside of Spain. Kayak through the calm waters, take a ferry to nearby Caladesi Island State Park to experience the state's wild beauty or stroll the rapidly gentrifying downtown for one-of-a-kind cafes.

Pass-a-Grille Beach, Florida

Historic beach area with restaurants, shopping, fishing, bike rentals, boat tours and cozy inns and motels.

Reviewed By atljpb - Atlanta, United States

My wife and I went to St Pete Beach recently and visited friends in Pass-a-Grille (or PAG as they call it in Florida). It is a delightful area, highly walkable with lovely restaurants, beautiful homes and views and a laid back, comfortable lifestyle. Simply put..........we could live here......and might. Our friends recently bought a house here and love it. With most people working from home now, it makes sense to be in a relaxed place with natural beauty. PAG certainly qualifies. For great views while eating, the Paradise Grill there is phenomenal unless you are attacked by a hungry seagull (even that is not too bad here). Love to spend more time here and will do so soon. I would recommend it but if I do I am afraid you will like it too and may be competing with us on a home purchase (LOL).

Gorgeous, laid-back St. Pete Beach was voted TripAdvisor's No. 1 Beach in the U.S. and No. 5 in the world in 2012, based on millions of reviews from travelers around the world. When you visit this magical expanse of sand, you'll understand why.

St Pete beach is a beach with a beauty all its own, the water, sand, sunsets, surroundings are all number 1! As a wedding planner, I recommend this beach to hold a beach wedding and is very popular for beach ceremonies, the best time being at sunset when the weather is cooler, the crowd has lessened, and you can take in the beautiful sunsets.

Cabana Beach Bar

Reviewed By Marco028 - Dunedin, United States

Simply the best bartending duo in the Great State of Florida, said this local, over riding his reticence in disclosing this St.Pete secret. In so doing, I risk losing my place in line at the Alden's Cabana beach bar I've enjoyed visiting for the last 6 years. But I'm willing, because Chris and Dave deserve Super Star recognition to match their Super Starred-ness. Together, they transcend beach bartending, bringing the art to an art, and to a new level. When you arrive, be patient. Part of the charm is the time Chris and Dave spend with each guest, especially those returning. No worries, let the West Side view of the Gulf keep you content, and the sound of each slow moving wave wash over yesterday's worry. When it's your turn, be quick to order the "Top Shelf Margarita" and let the elixir transport you to the place you deserve to be. Hear a story, tell a story, enjoy the vibe, and above all, be generous before leaving the best beach bar on the beach. Know where you've been and appreciate where you are. People make all the difference. Chris and Dave are real people doing really good things on the shores of St. Pete Beach. Don't miss it, nestled between the Sirata and the Rum Fish Beach resort.
