What to do and see in St Ives, England: The Best Bars & Clubs

November 15, 2021 Mikaela Didonna

St. Ives boasts a quartet of golden-sand beaches. Sheltered coves draw swimmers and sun-worshippers, but water-sports aficionados visit St. Ives for great surfing, windsurfing and water-skiing conditions. And on your way there, keep your eyes peeled for a dude with seven wives. You never know when nursery rhymes might come true.

Pilchard Press Alehouse Micropub

Been coming for a while and this time we went for NYE which was strictly ticket only which meant it had a nice feeling of space on a busy night in town. A haven to get shelter every now and again and as always, we were met with the friendly bar staff, excellent ale and a very nice spread of food. The pub is on the harbor front down an alley way and can be tricky to find. Once you make your way past several bins outside you will see it. It is very small but tasteful, sort of cave like and has several excellent ales on and sells a few snacks and crisps. That’s about it really. Great place to people watch, get a good beer and spend some time thinking about what pubs might have been like a couple of hundred years ago.

Hands down the best pub in St Ives. Michelle and Dominic were so accommodating and really made the night as enjoyable as possible. Pub quiz on a Monday was fantastic and the free portions of chips at half time were a welcomed surprise. Will definitely be returning the next time we are in St Ives.

The Balcony Bar & Kitchen

We visited numerous times during our holiday as the kids loved the pancakes with bacon, when we arrived we hadn’t thought about the dine out to help out deal so getting 4 breakfasts and drinks for £18 was amazing! The views are stunning from all tables, you don’t need to book but on arrival there’s staff at the door who will take your name and let you know when there’s a table available. Food was lovely, staff friendly, atmosphere is great, menus are paper & only downside was the QR code scanning to order as the signal isn’t great, although they just say order at the bar which we ended up doing on all our visits. As everything is contactless and you pay when you order there isn’t really the opportunity to tip staff which is a shame as they work hard doing a great job.
