Quirky. Bizarre. Delightfully decadent. The man's home is not for sensitive little children and their helicopter parents. The rest of us love the wicked escapades of the Ghashlycrumbs and all Edward Gorey's creatures, many of whom can be seen in various states of demise/repose on windowsills, buried beneath the massive magnolia, or flung across the narrow staircase inside. Everywhere you look there is a Gorey story unfolding in macabre detail. He was a unique one, and his house is the perfect representation of one strange dude. Loved it.

This beach is actually a succession of a few, separated by jetties...family friendly, well patrolled by lifeguards. I do wish there was better cleanup by folks who visit, but I would go back.

As we approached from the parking lot, I could not believe my eyes. The sand was soft and white - so pretty! And then we spotted the water, and it was a beautiful shade of blue-green! I would have thought we were in the Caribbean, not Cape Cod! We were there in late June. The water was very cold, so I didn't get in past my knees. But it sure was pretty to look at. We walked the beach a ways (even going past Private Beach signs). No one said anything as we walked along the water. Very clean beach.
My only complaint is the rocks that you have to cross over to get into the water (at least they were there in June). I would have brought water shoes to make it a little less painful if I had realized that was an issue. Otherwise, it is a perfect beach. The concession stand food was good. Plenty of choices. Prices were average for the area.

Nicknamed "Smugglers," this beach is family friendly, large and has a pier that overlooks Bass River and the many sail and motor boats going out to sea. The beach also has a Sunrise Sunday Methodist mass/service @ 7:30 am. The beach is clean and has a Snack Bar with beach eats and public bathrooms. Lifeguards are on duty. Beware NO DOGS allowed.

Kolsch, ESB, and Session were very good. Funk was awesome. Our trio of hop heads did not dig the IPA nor pale ale - maybe we've been too spoiled with other New England IPAs (Sip of Sunshine, Heady, Trillium, Leatherlips, Harpoon, Tributary, etc.) Maybe the tap lines were a little dirty; those beers just didn't taste good. It was a muddy, off flavor that created a distracting aftertaste. But of course, you should make your own opinion on this.
It's located in an industrial park like Mayflower or From The Barrel Brewing, cute tasting room just a few feet from the fermenters. The decor and bar in the tasting room was very cool, a little industrial, a little craftsman with great signs/posters on the walls. But you are essentially standing in a garage / warehouse.
We went early in the season and it was still pretty crowded (20+ people), we were getting pushed out the door by groups of college kids - and then brewery staff scolded us for stepping one foot outside the open garage door. It must be a violation of a local code or something.
The one guy working in the brewery was very nice, one server was also very pleasant, the other server was constantly distracted on her cell phone. Sadly, that's the server that put together our "to go" order and accidentally gave us Pale Ale instead of Session. Very disappointed when we got home. It tasted a little better from the can, but not much.
Anyway, this is a great thing to do if you are in the area. It's always good to support local beer, and I look forward to more good things from these guys as they expand. A restroom and outdoor seating would be awesome.

We visited dozens of places in Chatham to find the right shirt and fleece to take home. We had gifts to buy for the owners of the house in Chatham. We also had gifts to bring back home. Cuffy's is by far the best place. I love the quality of the shirts and sweatshirts.
The one story building is much bigger than most stores throughout Chatham. It's a cute clapboard building painted white. Inside, there is lots of open space with white, yellow and slate accent colors adding to the openness. The floors are pretty wood planking. They have two huge sand sculptures built in different rooms. For a shirt shop, it's beautiful.
We ended up purchasing shirts, sweatshirts, fleece, coffee mugs and saltwater taffy. This store is pretty to look at. It's wide open with lots of space. They have quality nice looking clothing. I thinks it's better than most shops we visited.

This iconic landmark is a must-see attraction, not only for the spectacular view of Cape Cod Bay, but because it shows up everywhere in photos and in the literature of the Mid-Cape. Unlike it's big brother, Pilgrim Monument in Provincetown, this is an easy climb but be careful. Steps are narrow and twisty and can be slippy. And also be careful up top as there is nothing to stop you from going over the side if you lean too far over the wall.

Great place for picture taking, especially at sundown. It's supposedly good luck to exchange kisses up top; worked for me.

There's a lesser but still great view from the parking lot at the base if you have mobility challenges Hope to see you there next time I pop in.

The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History integrates the three strands of its organizational identity - as museum of natural history, nature education center, and steward of conservation land. As a small museum of natural history, we will preserve, exhibit, and interpret our own collections of natural history artifacts and display relevant traveling and loan exhibits. We may also collaborate with local and regional organizations on co-sponsored exhibits. As a nature education center, we will engage children and adults in high-quality programs, classes, lectures, panel discussions, workshops, films, walks, field trips, traditions and interactive exhibits that reveal the many facets of the natural world and the reciprocal impacts that humans and nature exert on each other. As befits a nature education center, we will explore our potential as a center for citizen scientists and amateur naturalists, and as a forum for informed discussion of important issues related to the natural world, especially on Cape Cod. As a steward of 400-plus acres of museum-owned land in Stony Brook Valley and Brewster conservation land adjacent to the museum, including Wing's Island, the salt marsh, and the beach along Cape Cod Bay between Quivett and Paine's Creeks, we will monitor and protect the land and focus our programming on its varied habitats - our outdoor classroom and teaching tool. The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History consists of a 17,000-square-foot main building with exhibit and office space and an additional 400 acres of town and conservation land that covers a wide range of habitats, including pitch pine woodlands, salt marshes, a barrier beach, beech forests, walking trails and a small river, Stony Brook, which functions as a herring run during the spring. The museum, which was established in 1954, constructed its first permanent building, now the Summer Pavilion, in 1960, then finally dedicated its current museum space in 1968 at 869 Main Street on Route 6A in Brewster, Massachusetts, on Cape Cod. The museum focuses on local natural history and archeology and includes a small aquarium featuring over 80 different species of local freshwater and saltwater marine life, a butterfly house, several beehives, a collection of taxidermied birds and a collection of wooden birds carver by Eldridge Arnold. The museum's Marshview Room provides a view over conservation lands with binoculars for birdwatching and a monitor displaying a livestream of the osprey next in the marsh. The Stony Brook Valley has been inhabited for 10,000 years and the museum's archeological exhibit offers information about the area's settlement by indigenous people such as the Wampanoags, the subsequent arrival of English settlers in the 17th century and the rise of industry in the 19th century. One of the museum's most interesting and unique exhibits, a special delight for kids, is a 44-foot inflatable humpback whale and a walk-through inflatable what that is used to teach visitors about whales.

Check their schedule of events; they have live music performances at night and on-going art shows. For music shows, it's set-up like a club, with tables around the dance floor. AND you can "Bring Your Own" to the shows. Very cool place.
