What to do and see in Sorrento, Campania: The Best Wineries & Vineyards

November 29, 2021 Phylicia Berquist

Land of Mermaids. Land of Orange and Lemon Groves. Land of Colors. This small city in Campania has earned a plethora of alluring names. Famed for its sea cliffs, the town's steep slopes look out over azure waters to Ischia, Capri and the Bay of Naples. The birthplace of Limoncello liqueur offers some good diving, great sea fishing, boat cruises and appetizing restaurants. Excellent hiking trails cross the peninsula. Rent a car or take a taxi if the steep streets look too intimidating.

We visited in late January having booked on line. The winery is unusual in that it is in the town centre, just behind the railway station, so is very convenient to walk to. Rafaella was friendly and welcoming and very informative about the history of the company and the reason for it's location, and the wine making process. It goes without saying that we enjoyed tasting the wines, in fact so much so we ordered several boxes of the Lachrima Christi del Vesuvio to be shipped home. They arrived just a week later. I am happy to report we are enjoying it just as much here in miserable weather in February in England as we did in Sunny Sorrento.

Such a cool little spot in the heart of Sorrento. The staff of Limonoro were so welcoming and helpful, offering a sample of biscottis upon entering, to offering samples of their varied liquors, they ensured our questions were answered and made us feel comfortable in deciding what products we were interested in. You have to stop here if you visit Sorrento.
