Smogen Wooden Pier

A June evening and it was a quiet walk along the boardwalk. Most shops and restaurants were open and the was plenty of parking in the town. Apparently it can get very lively during the high season but I liked it like this.
Sadly there's a lot of development going on around Klevenvagen which is both bringing in heavy traffic and spoiling the view.

The boardwalk at Smögen is in the summertime one of Sweden´s most popular tourist destinations. It is located along the south side of Smögen´s old fishing port. The wooden boardwalk which is about 1000 metres long starts at the Fish Market in the eastern part of the harbour. It has a huge variety of shops, cafes and restaurants with outdoor Seating. At the end of the boardwalk lies Vallevik.

The problem with success is that people take away what made the place so successful. Smögen is indeed one of the more picturesque fishing villages on the Bohuslän Coast, but it has now evolved into a tourist mecca and the things that made it charming are slowly disappearing, especially as construction continues at a fast and furious pace.
So, go sooner rather than later before all vestiges of the charming village are gone. The colorful houses on the pier are worth photographing if the light is good, but if you miss it, these are the houses you see on many a postcard promoting quaint Swedish villages.

Nice boat trip to this rocky island just out of Smögen.
If you have a baby carriage or anything moved around on wheels, you're in for a tricky road.
Bathing is cold and mainly from the rocks, but there is one place suited for elderly and the smaller children.
Make sure the weather is great if you're planning a trip there.

We offer two separate activities. First you accompany me on my vessel. A 10 m fishing vessel to fish shellfishes like black lobster, prawns(nephropes) and crabs by picking up creedles. The black lobster fishing is seasonal. The fishing can be combined with cooking and eating the catch with added seafood in our lodge or sitting at our dock with magnificent sea view.
