Skala Eressos Beach

It doesn't matter the reason I come here, I ALWAYS enjoy the loooong beach, nice cafes and tavernas and swimming in crystal clear water.
There are activities like sea sports at the one side of the beach and a nice, quiet, seaside road to a small church at the other side.
Fantastic view during sunset hours!

Monastery of St. John the Theologian

Reviewed By Greekgantua - Athens, Greece

The Monastery is built on top of Ordymnos Mnt (634 m) and offers an awesome 360o view to the western part of the Lesvos Island.
It lies 7 km out of Antissa Village and 80 km from Mytilini city, on the way to Sigri.
It is known to be the oldest Monastery on the island. It was probably built around 800 AD (Byzantine era) and is structured like a castle. It has been sacked and burned multiple times and it has been restored to its current form in 1971.
The monastery hosts a small but interesting museum of religious artifacts and relics.
It is not accessible after sunset.
You should not expect to find something significant in terms of services or activities.
It is just an unmissable landmark of the island and I advise you to plan a short visit on your way to Sigri Town. The sunset is a must see.
It is an enchanting remote sanctuary, standing lonely in the rugged landscape throughout the centuries.

We paid 30 Euros pp, took almost 2 hours & saw a sea urchin & some anchovies. So disappointing - everyone on trip agreed if we'd have known we would never have gone on it. Wasted time & money.
