We had a really lovely afternoon at the vineyard. Elisa was so nice and welcoming, and really passionate about their family business, which was great to see. The wine was all lovely and the cheeses, breads and biscuits were a fantastic accompaniment. No pressure to buy any wine after the tour, but we did anyway as it was delicious!! We even stayed and drank another bottle before we left as it was such a nice setting! Would definitely recommend the tour and tasting, and very easy to cycle to the vineyard from Sirmione. Next time maybe we’ll try the cooking course as well :)

Easily overlooked. Beautiful frescos and rococco work above the altar.A little place of peace and worship, which has been a church for many centuries.

Ca dei Frati

Had a really interesting tour with Sara at Ca dei Frati. She was well informed, spoke perfect English and was let us see so many parts of the process including the bottling area. VERY generous wine tasting afterwards with sparking, rose, white, red and grappa all given even at 10.30am. In response to the previous reviewer, we had our glasses changed between “types” of wine. I’m sure if the previous reviewer had asked their glass would have been changed!!! We only encountered very friendly and helpful staff at Ca dei Frati, and were very impressed by their non pushy customer service. I would definitely recommend a visit if you are in Sirmione (€1 bus to stop 11 then a 20 minute walk) or south Lake Garda.

We visited Aquaria Thermal Spa just after the New Year and it was one of the most beautiful experiences of our trip to Italy over the Christmas break. We started our day visit with a couples scrub, mud wrap and massage and it was very lovely. We had two very nice, friendly and experienced therapists. We spent the rest of day experiencing the rest of the saunas, steam rooms etc, think they had every type as well as ‘emotional showers’! They had a large space upstairs dedicated to relaxing in different types of rooms, some with music, others with a view of the lake and my favourite was the salt room. The outdoor pools were divine, lovely and warm and lots of different jets and bubbles. It is clean and well maintained and they provide robes and towels for the visit. It wasn’t too busy, it seems they control the amount of people that can visit, which is good. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit!

Chiesa di Santa Maria della Neve

Embedded in the historic urban fabric of Sirmione, it is easy to walk past and miss it, but it is one of the best churches to visit, in part due to its scale, compared to the other churches. In addition to the frescos, you have a fine Renaissance organ case and an interesting, if slightly incongrious, wooden pulpit. The church waa built in the 15th century on the site of a previous building and today displays frescos from the previous building that were rediscovered during 20th century restorations, in addition to others after the rebuilding.
