Reached from Mumbai to Kudal by train and connecting bus to Malvan which is about 30 km away. Another bus for Devbag which is about 10 km away. The name Tarkarli is derived from the river Karli which flows in the area. Tar means the river side. Every house here is involved directly or indirectly with tourism industry. Most families have built few rooms for the tourists to occupy- home stay. They prepare home food and serve to the tourists. Beach cottages plentiful. Here people are very good and helpful. Beach is neat and clean with sea water transparent. Hotels here want the customers to book food in advance and then they prepare for the order, there by serving you fresh food. Choice of food is generally limited. Few hotels like Coastal Galaxy has good food choices. One can enjoy water sports at Tsunami island which is reachable by ferries which charge about Rs 500 for the cruise. Vengurla's Lighthouse

Reviewed By Guide175578

This is to warn visitors about caretaker's fraud but before that the good part. Its a rare chance to visit top of lighthouse, offers excellent 360* view of sea and surrounding from top of lighthouse. New step way from with proper lighting has been constructed from the road to the top. However the negative thing is that the caretaker - he sits just before the lighthouse entrance and says entry fees is Rs 20 per person to go to the top. We thought it is official and paid Rs 100 for 5 of us and in the excitement went inside to the top of lighthouse. Later we realised that he didnot give us any official receipt nor we saw any notice board anywhere intimating such fees. On the way down , we met another local tourist group and asked them whether they also were charged. They said no but indirectly indicated that this is common scam for outside tourists as they easily accept and least likely to complain. So beware of this scam. There is no official charge for entry.

This amazing beach extends 10 kilometers till the peninsula. One the cleanest beach i have ever visited in the Konkan. Amazing view with dolphins surfing by is a common sight in the morning hours. If you are fond authentic Malvani cuisine, you have many home stays to cater to this craving ad well. To satisfy the adventurous Dennis within, a variety of watersports can be tried. Being a very clean beach, you can also play football which is really an amazing experience. In case you opt for a night stay in any of the multiple homestays just next to the beach, you can even sit and gaze at the clear nightsky or enjoy the moonlit sea till late in the night. Scuba diving at the back of Sindhudurg fort is an amazing experience for a common man like me. Nearby other sports activity like parasailing, jet skiing, bump ride, banana rides are also great. Around 1800/- per head was charged for all these water sports activities in a well organised manner. Note: Swiming knowing/not knowing doesn't matter, my entire family did these activities. Awesome experience.
