What to do and see in Siem Reap, Siem Reap Province: The Best Food Tours

February 18, 2022 Russell Mellin

When the morning light washes over the overgrown temples and ruins of Angkor Wat, a simple Siem Reap sunrise becomes a profound event. The ancient structures are contained within one of the largest religious complexes in the world. The complex and the 12th century Angkor Thom royal city are considered the main reasons to visit Siem Reap. Get a lesson in national history at the Cambodian Cultural Village, and a lesson in bargaining at the Angkor Night Market, a bonanza of shopping stalls, food vendors, and bars.

The description is absolutely right, Angkor War is better experienced at dawn, with the cool temperatures and beautiful morning light. Guide was very knowledgeable, of course, and we felt so accomplished seeing as much as we did (5 sites!) in one day, but still not feeling rushed, and with a generous afternoon break. Great choice if you don't have time to visit the temples over the course of several days.

I absolutely loved my tour and Ducky was an amazing guide. All the food was so good, and the experience gave me an overview of Siem Reap and Cambodian people. She is not only knowledgeable about food, but the community, which adds so much to this experience. I highly recommend, not just to be stuffed with yummy food, but to gain a real knowledge about food culture and culture in general in Cambodia!

This food tour is unlike any I’ve taken before. Whether a local’s spot in the middle of town, the back-kitchen of a home stay, an open air hot pot joint, or sharing a meal in someone’s home(!), we learned so much about both the history of Khmer food, but also felt we could authentically experience how locals eat today. You can tell that someone put a lot of thought and research into these locations. All you can drink Cambodian beer never hurts. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn more about this rich and somewhat forgotten food culture. Thank you again, Leanna, for the once in a lifetime experience!

It was a great experience for seeing Angkor temples in the hard time of Covid-19. We booked the package just 12 hours before the tour started and the operator was really quick to respond us. We were actually 4 people with payment of 40s US$, this is the nicest price ever. Great driver with air-conditioned car, Ben was really great and he also giving us some information of Angkor (not just a driver). Thank you Ben and we' will see you again next year.
