Worley was a great guide who took us to at least four major tourist attractions in Chengdu in four hours from pickup to our hotel at the W and back. She is very knowledgeable including history of religions, architecture, and is a big panda fan. The tour was not the typical bike ride we are used to where we stayed on bikes the majority of the time. We took the metro and walked around the places we visited on this tour and probably traveled on bike for about 10 km. It was a wonderful introduction of the city that allowed us to see Wenshu Monastery, Kuanzhai Alley, People’s Park, and Qingyang Palace. We were pressed on time otherwise Worley would’ve spent more time in the locations. Thank you, Worley, for the great tour!

Rebkong is known as the Tibetan artist village throughout Tibet Plateau. On the boundless grassland you can take a picnic and see nomads milking and herding yaks. Perfect organization of our individual trip, also including the bike tour at Qinghai lake. Our driver was local and English speaking and introduced us to the local culture. We really enjoyed this individual experience and can warmly recommend Gonkho and his team!!!
3. 2 days trip to Mt Siguniang and Wolong Panda base
Mt. Siguniang is located 200KM from Chengdu, with an average attitude 3000m +. The peak of Mt. Siguniang reaches 6700 meter. The nearest highest peak you can find amount all big Chinese cities. The park of Mt. Siguniang, you will not only see the snow peaks and also crystal rivers and forests with lots wildlife. After the road been reconstructed on 2017, the drive from Chengdu to Siguniang shorted to 3.5 hours from 6 hours. The scenery drive from Chengdu to Siguniang is also breathtaking, and you will visit Wolong Panda base on the way to Siguniang， we think this base is the best Panda base ever, best facilities and happy Pandas.

So this has been a dream come true for me, to see pandas in China, without them being in a zoo. I don't why it has taken so long? In January, I finally got to spend a whole day working with other volunteers, cleaning and feeding some pandas that were, ironically, given by the Austrian government. Actually most of the pandas were captive born, with just a few getting ready for the re-wilding project. There's a lot to do and learn about panda conservation. Travelling to the sanctuary by private car on a really polluted morning was a bit depressing. In contrast, the sanctuary was completely impressive and well supported by foreign donations. I loved the programme and it seemed to work well for the community too. In the morning, I cleaned and fed bamboo and cakes. Then I paid extra to sit next to a cub, which I can't share on social media as I signed a disclosure document. After a somewhat spicy lunch, I toured the other pandas at leisure and then watched a really good documentary about the earthquake and the research approaches to sustain wild pandas. It was really sad to see how badly the earthquake damaged the scientist's endeavours. Yes, my contribution was expensive. I paid $840 for a day, yes, a day! That's a lot of money. Well conservation is always going to be about money, and on this occasion, I used my savings to learn more about pandas and that was worthwhile. I booked with Viator.
5. When Chinese Leaves Fall
This unique autumn trip begins and ends in two of the best known nature reserves of China. The first is Jiuzhaigou, internationally recognized as one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the world, and the latter is Zhangjiajie which was brought to the public attention as it served as the background for the Hollywood hit movie, Avatar. We just came back from a three week trip to China‘s 9 holy mountains. What a trip - temples, mountains, cities, natural beauty and most of all nice people. Ron Oren and his team developed a individual program for my wife and myself that was exceptional in all regards. One of the best trips ever.

7. Siguniang (Four Girls Mountain) Tour
Mt. The visit was fun and our guide Mark was a very friendly guide. The tour lasted longer than advertised (ours ran from 7am-7.30pm) but that's always to be expected in China, just prepare for a full day of activity. The ride from the panda base to Leshan can take about 3 hours so this tour isn't for everyone, it's a lot of sitting on the minibus. However it was a very easy and comfortable way to get to the pandas and the Buddha without the hassle of trains and buses and taxis. We had some delicious lunch in Leshan too (not included in price) which Mark helped us order.

Booked a car from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport arrival T3 to my hotel in Shanghai . Driver was waiting with a paper having my name on it and accompanied me to the car and drive me to my final destination. All was very smooth and driver was very prompt and professional.

We have been using Cuckoo Travel now for nearly 3 years to organise our holidays in Asia ( Myanmar,Borneo,Thailand to name a few. ) I have found them ( especially April) to be very knowledgeable and professional. Although they are a little more expensive ,the service is very good and we hope to use them again to plan another holiday soon.
