静岡県から愛知県へ入ると、すぐにあるパーキングエリア。
静岡県の八高山を登って、名古屋へ帰る時に眠気を覚え、ここで休憩する。
お土産は両県だけでなく、山梨県の信玄餅等もある。
早速、雪の時期には遠い「信玄餅」を購入する。
なお、東三河の物産を使用した食事もでき、食事と一緒に休憩してもよかったね。

It was fantastic to visit the historic battleground of Nagashino. Over 400 years ago 500 Tokugawa samurai defended this fort against 15,000 Takeda troops. It was an epic battle and I was there, a wonderful experience. The museum is very good and has a lot of English information.

It's an amazing place, with a wonderful river where you can swim (at allowed areas) and also where you can enjoy a BBQ. But not only around the river, also you can walk around and enjoy this wonderful piece of the nature in Shinshiro.

Not quite a target destination for first time visitors to the country due to its remoteness, but rather a nice place to visit if you happen to be around. In my case it was a trail running event with the registration and finish line set up in Yuya Onsen.
The village is built around the gorgeous Uregawa river (宇連川) with most of its hotels and restaurants facing the water. Prices are quite high, we even drove away to find cheaper food; but the service we received in the Senzankaku Hotel (湯谷観光ホテル泉山閣) was by all means great.
I imagine it would be nice to just walk along the river taking the tiny Bridges across, enjoying the small Waterfalls and the beautiful surrounding forest. Needless to say, if you stay at a hotel/onsen, satisfaction is guaranteed.
Multiple hiking trails, Horaiji shrine (鳳来寺) and quite a few Waterfalls are located in the area.
40 minutes by car or 1h by the Iida line train from Toyohashi.

いまはもう痕跡さえ残されていませんが
その昔は、バンガローやテントサイト（キャンプファイアーもできた）があり
中洲には清流の水で冷やした飲み物や手工芸品を売る売店もあり
東三河では知る人ぞ知る人気のアウトドアのメッカでした。
中学生の時には毎年幾度もキャンプに訪れていたこともあって
夏＝乳岩峡のイメージがすっかり刷り込まれてしまい、
毎年7月末の夏の真っ盛りになると、この地を思い出し避暑に出かけています。
乳岩や通天橋に行かなくても、水着や濡れても大丈夫な服装、履物で
軽い沢登りもどきを楽しみながら涼をとられてみるのをお勧めします。
この辺りは、下流の湯谷あたりまで板敷川と呼ばれるように石灰の床をなめるように川が流れているため、ところどころに石で削れられた淵や壺状のプールがあり
特に源流近くでは、地下から湧き出たばかりの冷たい水で外気が冷やされ
天然のクーラーとなって外気が冷やされ、真夏であることをしばし忘れてしまいます。
また、川のある渓谷周辺は、真夏の暑い日射が木々に遮られ木洩れ日の中に居るだけでも最高の癒しの時間を与えてくれます。
できれば夕暮れ時のひぐらしの鳴き声を聴く頃まで滞在されることをお勧めします。
