Homestead Old Course

Redesigned by Rees Jones, this historic 18-hole golf course has been transformed into a challenging par-72 layout.

Reviewed By DKLAG - Cleveland, United States

played the course recently with a group of 8 (played 2 times in 3 days). first tee times of the day so a bit of dew on the ground. surprisingly they let us go out. With that said, service at the course is excellent. The course is in great shape. Neat layout with 6 ea. par 3's, 4's and 5's. playing from the back tees still challenging for all handicaps. With the elevation changes, the views of the course and the surrounding areas is spectacular. bit of history on number 1 tee...it is the oldest continuously operating 1st tee in the country. Must do when in the area!

Great course, ton of history associated with it ! One of the most picturesque courses I have ever played. Building that houses the pro shop, is really neat and Lee ( the starter ) is a nice man with a ton of stories to share. A little pricey, but buck up and pay the money, you'll be glad you did !

I've been wanting to play Shenvalee for many years but as I live several hours away, I just haven't made the time to do so. Until this past week. Several of us made the trip to play their 27 holes. We figured if we're going to make the effort, we might as well make the most of it! I usually play anywhere from 15-25 rounds a year. And so far, this year, I haven't seen a course this green, well manicured and just fun to play. There was not a damaged green over the entire course- even after the periods of drought and heavy rain we've had recently. They ran pretty fast and several were very soft, especially the par threes when the balls landed on them. Each fairway was immaculate. The cuts were very fair and didn't give us any unfair lies. The yardage is short. There are several par 4s you could drive. But the shortness of the yardage is met with some very interesting shaping of the course. There are several holes where the tee boxes and the greens are of different heights- some extreme. You need to constantly think of not just the yardage but the landing zone. Several holes have blind greens, such as you're hitting on a hill, with the green hidden down the other side. It makes for a challenging but very playable course if you're hitting accurately. Several of the fairways have blind doglegs which, again, are very fair if you hit accurately. The staff we interacted with were all very nice and pleasant to talk to. Price was great, especially if you play all 27. I'm definitely making the return trip. The three of us who played were just stunned at how much fun this course was.

Even after the severe weather the are has had this 27 hole course is in amazing condition. The greens have been topped and are filling in quickly and the putts are very true. The fairways have been manicured and the rough is a bit long but nothing you can’t get out of to salvage a good score. Kudos to the grounds and maintenance staff.

We come to this area every year for a golf trip and this year we played CCC for the first time. What a beautiful course and well maintained. The first thing that was great was even on a Saturday morning, with this pandemic going on there wasn't a lot of people playing golf so we had no one close behind us and there was a foursome about 3 holes ahead of us so we really got a chance to take our time, play a nice round of golf and take everything in. the scenery was beautiful. Course was in great shape. We were there on May 30th. Definitely be back.
