What to do and see in Seville, Andalucia: The Best Walking Tours

June 9, 2021 Frederic Celentano

Originally founded as a Roman city and now home to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Seville is bursting with antique charm. The Alcazar palace complex is a stunning collage of architectural styles, and the Cathedral will impress you with its beauty and its status as the burial site of Christopher Columbus. The Metropol Parasol is the world’s largest wooden structure, a massive mix of grids and swirls that contains a market and a terrace observatory.

This is a nice walking trip through Sevilla. Both locals and foreigners will enjoy learning about the history of the city, from the ancient Roman origins until the Americas times. There are some key spots where you'll wear the glasses to see some short films, some fact cards, and a couple virtual reconstructions. If you like learning about the history of old cities like Sevilla, you'll definitely like this your. I misses a bit more virtual reconstructions, though.

The first travel around the world. "" ... and this path that this ship made was the greatest and newest thing that since God raised the first man was seen. "" Welcome to the heart of the city of Seville, where a team of hosts awaits you ready to accompany you and create a unique experience for this traveling chapter that you are about to start. The expedition of Magellan and Elcano was the first to "" travel and discover all the roundness of the world "" in the words of Juan Sebastián de Elcano himself. This happened between 1519 and 1522, when the means of navigation were still incredibly rudimentary, and life on board these primitive ships lacked any comfort or security. Furthermore, it was a journey into the unknown, which was not going to have any possibility of receiving help, and full of possible dangers.

Marta’s tour was an outstanding custom experience tailored to our preferences and interest. When we set up our tour, Marta asked us simply what or where we wanted to see in Sevilla, and we said we had always wanted to learn about the Triana and Santa Cruz neighborhoods. So, Marta met us for a 2.5-hr walking tour, meandering leisurely through the two barrios to tell us of their deep histories evidenced in the architecture, tile work and symbolism saturated within them. She was an outstanding guide, and always made room for any questions or impulses form us, and her knowledge base easily fielded any of our curiosities along the way. We were re-remembering cool facts and stories for days afterwords. Our appreciation for the city has been strengthened tenfold thanks to Marta, who we can most sincerely recommend to anyone interested in the fascinating stories of Sevilla’s past and present.

Peter was the perfect guide, very informative, his recommendations were spot-on. The time was allotted well. The white villages were nice. The photo stops along the way were appreciated. And the lunch recommendation was great. The tour then suggestions for using the free time in Ronda were all good information!
