What to do and see in Scottish Highlands, Scotland: The Best Other Outdoor Activities

September 20, 2021 Yuk Petri

The moody, romantic Scottish Highlands start at Loch Lomond just north of Glasgow. Comprising a slew of mountain ranges, this sparsely populated land is best seen by train on the West Highland Line. Mountains, lochs, bright heather and rhododendrons give way to white sand beaches and rugged coves as the train nears Mallaig. For a more active take on the region, hike the West Highland Way or visit the Trossachs National Park. Ben Nevis, a popular climbing spot, looms over the town of Fort William.

Sanna Bay Beach is a uniquely distinctive unspoiled beach & sheer remoteness dominated with captivating white sand & deep turquoise seawater that crashes against the cliffs. Located at the most westerly point of mainland Britain, between Sanna Point to the North & Ardnamurchan Point Peninsular to the South. Preferably come here on a sunny day to fully appreciate the jaw dropping majestry of mother nature at her most striking scenery on an unimaginable level. The overwelming joy of Senna Bay Beach lies in its unspoilt coastal sceenery with its wide open expanse. If you come with binoculars & sit quietly it is qiite possible to spot Dolphins, Wales, Sea Egles, Otters, & Pine Martens on a good day. Tips. There are no shops of fertility's so come with something to eat & drink etc. There is a small free car park. There is a small trek from the car park to the beach of say 5 minutes walk. There are no toilets. Best time to come is late morning & spend the day till mid to late afternoon to fully expierece the best beaches you will find anywhere in the World. Having previously climbed all of the Torridon mountains I wished to avail of the landscape from Roadside where I was able to offer commentary to my wife as part of an NC500 journey. Torridonian rock looks equally stunning both from on high or the roadside.

Spent an hour with a friend here yesterday for some of the fun archery. Great instructor, Andy, who was very knowledgeable and helpful. Excellent compliance with Covid relations to ensure safety, but the venue lends itself to covid compliance, whilst still being able to have fun. The session was so enjoyable that I'll be keeping an eye out for their beginners course opening up again, so that I can become a member and start shooting more regularly.
