First off the gallery collection was fabulous. That having been said, the wine tasting was dreadful. The gentleman pouring was an inch away from really rude. If you are going to offer tastings in a very nice place, at least make a showing of interest in your potential customers. This character made no effort to engage us in any way. It was pleasure to nod to my wife, pay-up and leave. We've had better treatment at convenience stores!

Saugatuck Dune Rides

My bucket list!!!! I was expecting just a fast ride, instead it was an historical lesson also about the dunes. The driver was very informative and had a great sense of humor. There are areas along the dunes that are very green, many trees. Also learned that there a snakes that climb up the trees to keep warm.

Express Yourself Art Barn

Make your own art in an 1880's barn! Ceramics, mosaics, glass fusing, jewelry, Potters wheel and silk/wood/glass/canvas painting. 800 different projects for adults and children, open rain or shine, no reservations necessary. Open everyday in the summer, and seasonally adjusted hours in the spring and fall. Closed in the winter.

I first off, liked the location of the Express Yourself Art Barn, it was farther away from town, so you get to drive through the countryside and see beautiful sites. There wasn't a lot of instruction when you walk in and it can get a little crowded. You are able to choose from a variety of different ceramics and other art pieces. I took my brother, who usually gets frustrated easily due to his autism, but he was perfectly fine and everyone was so patient and wonderful helping him out. The owners were very nice, and we had so much fun; they are very knowledgeable about art and I would recommend this to a friend. It can be a bit pricey if you are a college student like I am, but for my brother and I it was about 60 dollars, but it was worth it.

Running Rivers Paddle Board and Kayak Rentals-Day Rentals

We used this outfitter to take our annual labor day kayak/canoe trip. Reservation was right on time. We did the 3 hour trip which really took 2 1/2. Would recommend this over the 1 hour. Beautiful scenery and not too difficult. The 1 hour is a busier and the river wider. Loved the little town of Douglas.

Great exercise! You can do it if your not in shape but you will want to rest often on the benches. I wouldn't recommend if you have severe heart problems or bad knees to climb straight up stairs. Very nice view of the area when you get to the top.

We spent a couple hours wandering in and out of shops of all kinds, from
men’s and women’s apparel, to gift shops, to art galleries, with a final stop at a fair trade shop. We also took advantage of the great fall weather and strolled along the waterfront. Nice afternoon!

The range of talents, media, and art forms is as diverse as the owner herself. The garden display of outdoor sculptures and consists of many different media's, each expressing a particular artists talents. Definitely top drawer. They are very exclusive on the artists they represent, and while I said I wouldn't purchase another 'Hansen" original piece, two days after I saw it on the desk I had to have it and called to see if it was still there. IT WAS! And they delivered it! I now very proudly have it displayed on my office desk and is definitely one of a kind. While I was there I saw a form of art I had never seen before made from intricate layers of very minute cut outs. They were all breath taking and I can tell you it will be hanging on one of my walls before the summer is over. All of the art is unique. They obviously are extremely careful of the artists they represent. Don't stop just to look at paintings, you can find them everywhere. Yes there are paintings, but other art forms you might never had dreamed of seeing. Top Drawer!

Nice secluded beach, but probably not a beach you would take small children if you need to carry a lot of items because it's a hike to the beach. Picnic area. I didn't see a whole lot to do with small children and the restrooms are rustic my reason for 4 instead of 5 stars. Dogs are allowed on a leash.

$1 for a nice pleasant ride across a river headed toward a museum and beach on Lake Michigan. You want quaint, you got it! The nice young kids who run the show were pleasant and professional. You know... none of them had their smart phone out... rare these days! They could chat with the customers and made kids feel very welcome.
