Gilberto and Max of Discovery Tours provided the day trip of a lifetime to Anzio where I followed in my father's footsteps to see where he served his country in World War 2. Discovery Tours handled all the logistics, trip planning and detailed information on the battle sites and Anzio campaign with consummate professionalism. I learned much and thanks to Gilberto and Max, have a much deeper and personal understanding of the challenges my father and all other servicemen and women faced during this critical time in history. I enthusiastically recommend Discovery Tours to enrich your travel experience in the wonderful country of Italy.

My adult daughter and I visited Bibonna, Italy during Easter weekend and wanted to do visit local wineries. I did not want to drive so that I could enjoy the tastings so we booked a 5 hour tour with Monica. She was FABULOUS!! Monica is a taxi driver, licensed tour guide and sommelier...the perfect combination. We saw the beauty of the region, learned about the history of Tuscany and the importance of wine and olives to the area, and visited two amazing wineries. Monica was flexible and accommodating to make stops for pictures and answer all of our questions. The booking process was easy and she customized the trip to our needs. Monica communicated with me often leading up to our trip and called me when she knew we would be arriving to welcome us to Tuscany. She confirmed the pickup time at our hotel and was there early to ensure we got the most of our day. My daughter and I had an amazing experience and Monica was well balanced in making us feel like we had a friend guiding us, as well as giving us space to share the moments with each other. She has a great relationship with the staff at the wineries and makes sure you get the most out of the experience. I would highly recommend any sort of tour of the Tuscan region with Monica, but would encourage you to let her guide you to the more local and out-of-the-way destinations. 2 Years ago some friends of ours told us about this tour. We did not know much about the Etruscans or Tarquinia - what an experience! The guide picked us up at our hotel in Civitavecchia and we drove to the cute little town of Tarquinia - then out to where the Etruscans were buried in caves underground. There are about 20 different graves that you have to walk down many steps to be able to see - each one holds unique colorful murals. Then we ate a fabulous Italian lunch and then to the Etruscan museum to see all the artifacts that have been discovered. Our guide took us on a tour of the old city in Tarquinia and then back to the hotel late afternoon - very unique excursion that we highly recommend!
