We stopped by this beach on the way to visit a friend. I must say, I was impressed. The beach area was very clean, as were the facilities. There are boardwalks that lead to the beach, with a ramp down to the beach which gives it easy acess. The parking lot seemed a bit small, however this area seems to have a number of beach access parks. There is a long winding boardwalk with plenty of sitting places and offer a beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean, along with a small picnic area for those that prefer not going on the beach. For those who prefer to get sand between their toes, there is a foot shower.

I really like this place. Cool water at the drinking fountains, clean bathrooms, plenty of shady pavillions to unwrap a sandich and open a soda in. There is a really extensive and grand beach and it makes for a great walk.

Hangar's Beach

I'll be honest that I'm not sure the exact beach we visited during our stay in Satellite Beach was this beach. But just about two blocks from the house we rented, the beach we visited had a nice parking lot between two condos and a short walk over the dune. This is a beach area that you can still walk along and find shells, which you are unable to do on the more touristy beaches where they sweep and groom the sand every morning. The beaches in this area are historic nesting grounds for sea turtles. Our spot on the beach was just a few feet from where a turtle had crawled up to the dune and laid her eggs the night before. Once, several years ago, we took a "turtle walk" on one of these beaches where we got to watch the turtle lay her eggs. But I couldn't find any information to suggest they still offer this. If you're touring on the Space Coast of Florida and want a less crowded place to relax than Cocoa Beach or Jetty Park, come a little further south to Satellite.
