Vieux Sarlat

Reviewed By Joseph B - Perth, Australia

This is a great old town that has hung onto its buildings and culture which now gives it it's quaintness and uniqueness. We loved the place and spent many an hour walking around the narrow streets and alleyways discovering some hidden gems. It can get backed up with traffic at times like many scenic places, especially when people flood in to see the markets or are unwilling to park further afield and walk into town.
PJ Barker author of the novels Changing Pillion and, It Began in Naples.

Les Jardins d'Eau

The whole experience was exceptionally good. An amazing display of different types of water lilies and aquatic plants from around the world shown in a very thoughtful and attractive manner, including a comprehensive maze of interlinked pools and Fountains. Large tank/pool of koi and common carp which could be fed. Also other pools contained a number of different types of sturgeon. Frogs, toads, knewts dragon flies and damsel flies of all different colours kept our two young grandchildren totally intranced.

Sarlat Vue du Ciel

Reviewed By OMER P - Tel Aviv, Israel

We and our 3 little kids visited Sarlat on some Wednesday morning in August for the market and old city,
The attraction was there, with no major line to wait, pretty cheap, so we decided to go up.
For us it was marvelous - the entire city on a 360 degrees view, with a printed English guide of the different buildings, cathedrals and surroundings, but our kids were not into it. The height and the transparent, glass elevator made their impact, but nothing much more.

It's a nice place to spend a morning and buy some fresh food vegetables and fruits for a picnic. The only problem is that it closed very early in the day and before I had time to enjoy it it was all over.

Les Cabanes du Breuil

Reviewed By HobbitBrandybuck - Denver, Colorado

Les Cabanes du Breuil is located between Sarlat (9 km) and Les Eyzies (12 km). We visited it on our way back from Grotte de Ruffignac (close to Les Eyzies) to Sarlat. It comprise mainly of a group of outbuildings of a farm dating from 19th century. The buildings are all topped with a high dry stone corbelled vault with a roofing of stone tiles. This type of roof is quite characteristic of old buildings in this area. So it is interesting to get a close look from the inside. The site is not big. It can be toured easily in 30 minutes. The old farm and the grounds speak of a bygone day.

With all the great Chateau that you can visit in the Dordogne, you can afford to miss this house. Chateau Milandes is so much better and entry is the same price.

Ferme du Brusquand

Reviewed By Guillaume R - Göteborg

The Ferme du BRU is getting extremely popular thanks to online reviews.
There are tours of the farm including a feeding of geese and tasting every day at 17.00. The tour takes about 90 minutes.
According to the owner, there are much less people on Sundays, so do plan for a visit on that day if you want a small group.
The restaurant is fantastic and you should take the chance to stay for dinner after the visit (see my separate review).

Cathedrale Saint-Sacerdos

Reviewed By Big_Jeff_Leo - St Helens, United Kingdom

It might not be the biggest or the most elaborate looking but inside are some interesting features. As with many French Churches there are some lovely and elaborate side altars and the stained glass windows are well done. The organ is impressive and the belfry dates from the 9th century.

Chateau de Puymartin

Reviewed By Abssam - Reading, United Kingdom

Fairly good chateau although would be good if there were tours in English as there seems to be a lot of interesting history we missed out on. Would recommend an hour only here as not a great deal to do.
