Beautiful chateau and cave, amazing wine, superb staff... The extraordinary Maxime curated an amazing week in Burgundy for us in late June. We spent 5 days touring the rolling hills of Burgundy, learning the history of Chateau de la Cree, enlightening our palates, visiting caves and cellars, enjoying lovely meals, and learning all about this renowned wine region. Maxime is charming, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and passionate--we couldn't have asked for a better host! And our lunch on the terrace of Chateau de la Cree with Francois and Pablo was the highlight--we could have stayed forever!

Prosper Maufoux

Since 1860, the expertise of Prosper Maufoux has served a wide array of Burgundian appellations. Pascale Rifaux opens the door to the Prosper Maufoux Wine House. Our Maison on Santenay's main square features beautiful vaulted cellars built on two levels, the oldest of which dates from the 15th century. And it is in this setting that you will taste the Maison's treasures.

Chateau de Santenay

Exceptional witness of 2000 years of wine history in Burgundy, the Château de Santenay, is a legendary building, owned by Philippe le Hardi (1342-1404), Duke of Burgundy. Its 1395 ordinance is the source of the uniqueness of our great wines of monocepage terroir. The Château estate is the archetype of a large Burgundian estate combining excellence, exemplarity and respect for living in all its forms. Pillar of heritage, the Estate is part of the legend of Burgundy wines as much as it invents their future, showing the way to meet the challenges of tomorrow. Fifty plots are vinified in the cellars of the estate, offering multiple wines, from Mercurey to Gevrey-Chambertin, via Saint-Aubin, Santenay, Aloxe-Corton, Chambolle-Musigny, Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru ... Every visit to our fief of Santenay and every tasting of our wines is an intense and lively experience.

Our guide Miriam was an absolute delight. Thorough in her presentations of how their wine is made and very gracious during the wine tasting. The cassis is a great treat, ask for a taste you'll go home with a bottle.

Mestre Pere & Fils

At Domaine Mestre Père et Fils, we cultivate above all a sense of welcome in the shop located on the Place du Jet d'Eau in the centre of Santenay. Gérard, Michel and Gilbert Mestre, the 5th generation of the family, maintain this with passion. 17 hectares of vines spread over five villages, from the Côte de Beaune to Santenay, Aloxe-Corton, Ladoix, Maranges and Chassagne-Montrachet. The catalogue is really rich. In white, 9 different wines are available, from Santenay Village to Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru and four 1er Crus.

We were cycling through Santenay and decided we had time for a tasting before travelling on the Puligny-Montrachet. A very friendly reception and we were offered tastings of both red and white wines and the youngest as well as some more mature ones. In fact we stopped at the whites having sampled three different ones and discussed grapes, areas of vines, recent years grape harvests, the declared vend age date for 2019, 100 days after vines flower. We bought one bottle to carry on our bikes and our order was graciously taken by the young woman who had served us and answered our questions.

6. Domaine Antoine Olivier

Domaine Antoine Olivier

Founded at the end of the sixties, Domaine Olivier originates in the few vineyards left by Antoine Chevalier Moreau to his grandson Herve. By purchasing plots and new plantations, the estate first stretched out on Santenay then on Savigny-les-Beaune and Pommard.
