Titcomb’s is truly a local treasure. It’s a family run business that has been here since I was a child. Their knowledge & insight of not only books but appropriate toys for different ages is so helpful. I love to visit this store and always have a wonderful experience!

Glass Studio on Cape Cod

Michael Magyar’s Glass blown pieces are simply beautiful and very Cape Cod. He produces some terrific pieces including goblets and vases that are perfect for weddings and treats for yourself. I have given quite a few pairs as wedding gifts and for a smaller token (app $20.00) he has these great glass stars that look lovely in front of a window. I have given these to guests as a Cape souvenir. There are plenty of items to choose from and they’ll engrave them right on the spot.

McDermott Glass Studio

In the back yard of a house at 272 Cotuit road in Sandwich, there is a metal building with molten glass in a furnace at 2000 degrees. 4 glassblowers, David and Yukimi and Isabel and Peter will be making beautiful glass inside the building. You can just walk in and watch them "dance with glass" from the behind of the working bench. They will explain what they are making and will answer any questions you have, too. You can feel the heat of glass as well as the love that they have in blowing glass. They usually blow glass Wednesday-Friday. there is a small gallery at the side of the house. The gallery is open everyday 10-5.

Great local glassblowing business that makes there pieces on the premises and a gallery for pieces for sale by the main house. Great variety and price point. Owner was very down to earth and friendly. No pressure to purchase anything at all.

Green Briar Nature Center and Jam Kitchen

This unique spot boasts beautiful gardens and nature trails, as well as a jam-making kitchen.

We have been to Green Briar a couple of times now since we have been visiting in Sandwich. It is a cozy little center with beautiful wild flower gardens and a great early 20th kitchen which was utilized for making home-made jams to sell to the public. Nowadays you can sign up for a class and make various jams depending on which fruits are in season. My husband and I took the class and enjoyed it very much. Emmalee was the teacher and she is very organized and patient. By the end of class we each had five 4 ounce jars of jam to take home with us. Check out Green Briar the next time you are in the area and see what it has to offer you.

This is one of my favorite shops in the entire United States. It’s well vetted with genuine antiques and no filler and fluff. It’s a perfect layout and I spend hours every time I go. And the staff is always so sweet and kind. I think about things later that I wish I had bought and they ship them to me and are so helpful. There is very little to compare to this shopping experience so do not miss it! There is great sightseeing and dining within walking distance so it’s a great day trip for sure. And I always find bargains. Always!
