Salar de Aguas Calientes

What an unbelievable spot. We did the Aguas Calients with Cosmo Andino tours and we drove on a perfect road from lakes Miscanti and Miniques. It is an amazing place, I can only compare it to a painting! The amazing colors of the lake, and the backdrop of high volcanoes, the freshness of the air, the calm and quiet. It is truly breathtaking!

Despite the valley’s crude name the whole place radiates peace and unbelievable natural beauty. We came across upon returning from El Tatio Geysers. The valley is like a painting! Everything is bright blue and green and yellow and the abundant wild life of vicunas, flamingos and birds and in the backdrop the snow capped volcanoes is simply astonishing. Not to be missed.

Machuca is a small village with less than 50 inhabitants. Visited same on my way back from El Tatio Geyser field towards San Pedro De Atacama. This village is famous for selling barbecued lama meat and some delicious freshly made empanadas. Certainly a unique village and would very highly recommend visiting same to any traveler in the Atacama region.

Iglesia de Socaire

Reviewed By 716sachink - Plainview, United States

This church is the main historical heritage site of the town of Socaire. It features works from the colonial period and it’s bell tower is made of edged stone. The church was not open, when my family visited recently, but it was a good experience to view it from the outside. One can appreciate the terraced farms in the close vicinity from the church campus. Certainly worth a stop when en route from San Pedro De Atacama to Laguna Miscanti and Laguna Miniques.
