The Desert Gardens are in full bloom now, April 2021, and it is a very peaceful and quiet place to visit. The 2 most popular / busy gardens were the Chinese and Japanese gardens but this one had fewer people probably because there are no trees or shade in this garden and by mid day it was quite warm, even in spring. There are a large variety of cactus and succulents and huge numbers of barrel cactus. I think this is worth a look if you go to the gardens area you should take the time to see the Desert Gardens too. It might be a good idea to go to this area right as the place opens since it is in direct sun.

The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens

A popular tourist stop, this 207 acre complex houses a library, art collection and stunning gardens. The library and art gallery contain rare books and one of the most complete collections of 18th century art outside of London.

2nd time to Huntington. Library is still best in USA with insight on importance of each tome from Gutenberg bible to economics to Declaration of Independence, Wm Shakespeare Folio and science of planets, telescopes too. Beautiful Japanese waterfall and Chinese garden with scarce lotus flowers. Blue Boy still hanging tall, and add time to walk around the int'l gardens with above average Greek/Roman sculptures. Family priced cheese burgers and Mexican fare in cafe with free fruit infused water.

Lacy Park

Reviewed By 34regisk - Arcadia, United States

Nestled in a beautiful neighborhood of San Marino, Lacy Park is an oasis for children and dogs. Especially during Covid 19, many families bring their children and dogs here for a walk and to enjoy the natural beauty and fresh air. This is a place for a morning jog or walk while keeping distances from others. The park has a one way path policy to keep people from running or walking into each other. I see a lot of families having picnics here by taking advantages of the picnic benches throughout the park. May people also come out here to exercise. Many people jog here in either the inner path or the outer path. I also witnessed many elderly doing Tai Chi here. My wife and I came this morning to just to take a walking. I was also surprised by the finely manicured rose garden here. That looks like a miniature scale of the rose garden inside Huntington Library. Finally, I learned something new today from the Patton statute in the park. I found out that the famous General Patton was originally a San Marino resident. Wow! That’s big. Didn’t know our neighborhood contributed to WWII in a big way.
