What to do and see in San Diego, California (CA): The Best Food Tours

April 3, 2022 Ying Subia

San Diego embodies laid-back California culture, complete with a Boardwalk, surfing communities, and outstanding Mexican food. Breathe in the fresh ocean air at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park, then gobble down a fresh fish taco at a La Jolla seafood joint. The naval aircrafts at the USS Midway Museum will have you standing at attention. A free Sunday concert at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion is the perfect way to unwind after a Saturday night bar-hop in the thumping Gaslamp Quarter.

Mario was very knowledgeable in showing us some sights in Tijuana. The mescal, beer and taco tastings were fantastic. I especially enjoyed walking around the markets. I recommend Mario and his tours. I hope to do a wine tour in the future.

The rich history of the paintings ( murals ) and explaining the meaning of the paintings and the artists was captivating. I was not bored at all. Tadeau ( tour guide) is like a history book except that I don’t have to do the reading. His knowledge about Tijuana, the places visited , the artists, and what the paintings explains is easy to follow and understand. It was a Mother’s Day well spent since I was alone in San Diego and my children couldn’t come, this day trip was their pick.

We enjoyed dining and sampling at places we never would have visited on our own. Our guide Stephano was high energy and well informed. We were well treated by each establishment and the food and drink was memorable. The highlight was desert, something we seem to never have room for but it was fantastic thanks to "Ben the fake Frenchman!" (he really is French) The music in a couple places was so loud we could not visit but overall it was a great experience.

I enjoyed myself at Old Town San Diego. Cute little town. We didn't do the tour, but we did walk around and had a great time. I was so excited to be able to wine tasting. The wine was good with chips and salsa. The lady was really nice. Make sure you wine taste and stop by the cute little store with bath salt, make your own candles, bath fizz balls, etc... also enjoy the food down there. I will go back once everything open up. Ir's a nice walk so have on comfortable shoes.
