What to do and see in Salou, Catalonia: The Best Hidden Gems Things to do

August 28, 2021 Janette Largent

Salou, on the Costa Dorada, nestles between quaint Cambrils and calm La Pineda. Just seven miles south of elegant Tarragona, the compact resort town is a family favorite, due in no small part to the existence of Port Aventura and Aquopolis theme parks. Gentle beaches and a slew of exciting fiestas in August add to Salou's appeal for families.

After a long walk what a relief to find this fanstastic bar with great friendly staff and great views. The young lady who served us was great, didnt get her name but it was her 8th season (blonde ponytail)she was full of great information about the T10 card and places to visit. The lovely white seating with pretty blue cushions was very welcoming with its huge parasols. We enjoyed our coffees, and coke zeros and our relaxed rest with great views, the koko bar was kept very clean and tidy and cant wait to visit again.thank you for your helpful advice too.x

Cala Crancs

I was staying in Salou and cycled here a couple of times. There is a coastal footpath you can also walk it. I’d suggest if cycling have a good bike or be prepared to have to push up some steep slopes! If you’re in a family with young children best to take the car. I don’t understand the negative reviews of this beach. For me it was perfect. Clear & clean water. Great for snorkelling in the rocky areas & swimming. Plenty of bins and also a bar on the beach and toilets. I walked up to a cafe at the top of the slope as they had a good food menu which included takeaways so sat on the beach. It was never to busy but mainly locals rather than tourists.
