Lester's Bison Farm

Reviewed By L M - Chicago, Illinois

I can't say enough about how wonderful Lester is to chat with and the meat is beyond imaginable! I'm not a huge red meat fan, but that all changed after finding Lester's on a bike ride training in southern wisconsin!!! My family and now extended family have been going since 2009/2010 and I even had my parents ship meat to me while living in AZ! Now I make everything with bison and it's much healthier and has amazing flavor all on it's own! It's great to drive out to the farm and see these amazing animals grazing free but also convenient that he travels to farmers markets around the area! Don't waste anymore time and go visit Lester's!!! :)

PM&L Theatre

Palette, Masque and Lyre Inc (PM&L Theatre) has been a staple of entertainment in downtown Antioch for six decades. Formed in 1960, our community theatre has grown from its humble beginnings in a converted vaudeville venue to a modern facility built to delight our audiences of all ages. PM&L runs a full season of plays, musicals and comedies each year drawn from our rich tradition while always introducing fresh contemporary and modern shows. In 2015 we acquired the building next door in order to convert it to Tribute Hall, a fresh new lounge and concessions area. We're proud to be part of the Antioch and Lake County community and invite you to visit and see the enjoyment of live entertainment for yourself. Listed hours are for our box office only, performances are on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

I have lived in Antioch 21 years and I finally made it to the PM&L theater! We caught To Kill A Mockingbird and while that story is a bit dry for me (the book was a tough read for me) the experience was solid good. The theater is super-small and "skinny"- I counted 100 seats on the floor and I'm guessing there are maybe 20 seats in the balcony. But the place was renovated several years ago and it is a very nice facility. There is also a little are adjacent in which you can have a drink and/or snack before the show or at intermission. Next I'll try a musical there. Nice.

Wilmot Mountain

Currently closed for Winter Operations. Please check out website for summer events. Since 1938, Wilmot Mountain has enchanted families as one of the Midwest’s premier Winter destinations for snowsport activities. Just a short drive away from Chicago and Milwaukee, they have made skiing, snowboarding, and tubing an easy, accessible, affordable and fun trip for the whole family. With the recent Vail Purchase, Wilmot Mountain is undergoing a $13.2 million renovation. This renovation includes new lifts, a base area transformation, an expanded state-of-the-art snowmaking system, a new kid's ski and snowboard school with an enhanced beginner's area, and a new terrain park with high speed rope tow. Having converted thousands of first-timers into lifelong skiers and riders, and now with the opportunity to take that passion to Vail Resorts’ iconic western mountains, Wilmot Mountain is truly the place where Epic begins.

Good ski spot close to Chicago.

-Quick (about hour) drive from downtown Chicago.
-Ski runs are short, but fun and interesting. There are some good areas for jumps and tricks as well.
-Rental equipment was a bit old and could use an update. The rental process is also kind of weird. They just tell you to pick out your own boots and you leave them when you’re done—nobody confirms that they’re returned.
-The food at the cafeteria was surprisingly good—pizza was delicious.
-There are a couple bars and they had good live music while we were there.
-All the staff were friendly.

Will definitely go back next time I want a quick ski trip in the area.

I'm not sure why, but every time that we get near the Wisconsin/Illinois border, I am told that we have to stop at Pleasant Prairie Premium Outlets. I mean - how much can someone buy?? It is located on the east side of I-94 and has very easy access on and off the highway. There is plenty of parking. I have found that the best thing to do is to just drive slowly around the outdoor mall and you'll find a store that you'll like.

Benson Corners Antique Mall

WE are a antique mall & Thrift store with gas station that sells hot and cold food general store and more.

Reviewed By illinois travelere

I have been shopping here since the '90s....for antiques, vintage, collectibles, etc.

For a while, there was a thrift store in the building to the east, but about two years ago, they became theThing 1 and Thing 2 of antique malls......yes, twins. But not identical. Mall #1 has 7,000 square feet and Mall #2 has 11,000 square feet.

You will find plenty of inventory and usually fair prices. No matter what you collect, there's probably one of them here.
Many dealers offer discounts.
I have never left empty-handed (to be honest, that's true of many other places as well).
convenient parking
