Maramec Spring Park

Spring favored by underwater cave explorers.

Love this park and it's natural beauty. For some reason on our last visit, it seemed like the water was so much more clear and clean than the past few visits. Love walking along the stream up to the farm museum - kids always love looking at all the old farm equipment and home supplies - snacks are available for purchase there as well. The other museum has nice views of what the area was like originally. Out of all our visits, we had never done the driving tour so we did that over the past weekend as well - not a ton to see but interesting enough to do once.
Would definitely recommend a visit here if you have never been! If you plan on feeding the fish, don't forget to bring quarters and little cups to carry the food in.

No one here to gain entrance but still a good photo opportunity. The for sale sign on the front tells it all. Off the beaten path and no customers.

St. James Winery

This winery is located in a non-descript building right off the highway. You will notice the sign with the giant grapes. Tastings are free - you can select 6 samples from their large selection of wines. I loved their wines. Friendship School White was my favorite.
They also have a large gift shop, and the Public House Brewery Restaurant is next door.

Definitely worth a visit. The people here are still manufacturing vacuum cleaners, so their knowledge is current, but the breadth of kicky, fascinating and ultra-retro exhibits in the museum is a revelation - knowledgeable "docent" leading the tour was great.

Quit traveling like everyone else and missing the treasures right off the road. Here's one!

Heinrichshaus Vineyard And Winery

Reviewed By Sarah C - Blue Springs, Missouri

I had read the other excellent reviews so was expecting greatness! Off the beaten path was an understatement. Looked abandonded. The building was extremely run-down, over-run with bushes, smelled damp and moldy, the bathroom had not been cleaned in years, and there was a dead mouse on the floor near a cat. Our "dump bowl" had a dead fly floating and had not been emptied in some time. We did not see the male winemaker but perhaps his wife? While she seemed knowledgeable, we couldn't get out of there fast enough. Maybe the old German winemaker would have made all the difference, but would not recommend this winery.

Meramec Vineyards

My wife and I stopped in for wine tasting and had a great time here. Complementary tastings and very good wines. I have a rating system and rated two of their wines nearly at the top of my taste ratings, which is very rare. The selection and prices were good. We will make a stop at this winery anytime we are driving past it.

Large place with a lot of unique stuff from many different vendors. My aunt and I usually take an annual trip hitting all of the antique places from Kansas City to Rolla while visiting family in the area. This place is a great way to spend an afternoon and find some cool treasures.

Rosati Winery Museum

Reviewed By ohbo - Rolla, Missouri

Stopped at Rosati on my way from Rolla to Belmont Vineyards. The proprieter (Andrew, I believe) was extremely knowledgeable of the history of the area and the history of this grape growing reagion which was once a major supplier for Welch's Grape juice. There is a museum, a wine tasting room, and a nice dog. They are not a working winery, but they sample Missouri wines from a certain region of MO. everymonth. Also available are cheese and sausage from Swiss Meat and Cheese (best in MO.).The place is just cool. Bunch of route 66 information and memorabelia as well. Anyhow, it is well worth a stop if you are traveling between Rolla and Cuba, MO. They do a lot of wedding receptions and that sort of thing as well. Oh, and there is a short film on the area which I will watch on next visit. Enjoy.

Three Squirrels Winery

Reviewed By Ian411Ian - Prescott, Arizona

Yes, Scamper (the cat, and according to the owner, the chief of operations) greeted us when we arrived in the second-floor tasting room/art gallery. She loves to explore purses, so if you have one you don't want rifled, keep it closed tight and away from Scamper!

Nice selection of Three Squirrels wines at the tasting bar - a pretty heavy pour of any/all from the proprietor... very nice! We worked our way from dry to sweeter and settled on a couple of glasses of "White Squirrel" while we browsed the local artists' wares and enjoyed the outdoor courtyard (with fountain). There's also a second-story covered deck which overlooks the fields - picnic tables and plastic chairs/folding tables up there.

Wines - better than other nearby St James wineries. Nice assortment of cheeses and chocolate, beers and sodas, and of course, all the art for sale. Be nice to Scamper and her "guard cat" friend (whom we didn't meet) - you'll enjoy yourself here.
