Paynes Bay Beach

Definitely spend time at this beach - it is beautiful and has amazing coral reefs bursting with the most stunning fish to swim with. There is a great tour out to the turtles and to several shipwrecks that can be picked up on the beach three times a day (by Tamarind hotel) - look for 'Rod da man under da hat'. You can also rent jet skis from him and his colleague Peter which I highly recommend as the experience is amazing - it's so exhilarating. These guys are wonderful and the divers that come with you are seriously skilled and knowledgeable - they will take excellent care of you and even give you free underwater pictures of you and the fish!

Previously we thought our local Curzon Cinema very luxurious but the Limegrove makes it look like a fleapit. There is enough space between the rows for a giraffe to stretch its legs, and the attendants come down with a menu to take your order which they then place on a table next to your seat. The cinema was beautifully air conditioned on a very hot evening and made a top class impression. Interestingly, it was only about 15% full, possibly because the prices were exactly the same as our Curzon's.

Max ferried us around in his comfortable MPV during our ten days in Barbados, both on a four-hour island tour and taxis to-and-from restaurants. He took us up to the beautiful and dramatic north and east coasts, including the spectacular area of Animal Flower Cave and Cove Bay. He is a charming, personable, and knowledgable guide with loads of information and anecdotes about the island and his life growing up here. Thank you, Max, see you next visit!

We saw the church on our way to snorkel and stopped by later that day to explore. The stained glass was enchanting and cast beautiful colors onto the hardwood pews that complete the historic feel of this wonderful little church. We enjoyed a few minutes out of the bright and direct sunlight in this little gem.
