I admire Curonian Spit, perhaps one of the most amazing and impressive natural beauties of Lithuania, and the effort to protect it. This area, also called the Sahara of the Baltic Sea and included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, consists of about 90 km long narrow saber-shaped dunes that divide the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea. Curonian Spit and its surroundings is a national park that is very well protected by the state. In this national park created with pine trees that people have planted with their hands for years, they have carefully lived more than 30 species of endangered birds and more than 800 different plants. I can say that I have never seen such a good visuality anywhere else in the world. The charming town of Nida and the small "Ethnographic Homestead of Fisherman" named fishing house museum, "Gintaro Galerija Muziejus" named amber museum and "the Horizontal Granite Sundial" are also worth visiting in Curonian Spit.

Serpukhov Vysotsky monastery was founded in 1374 by St. Sergius of Radonezh at the request of Serpukhov specific Prince Vladimir the Brave. The monastery served as an important spiritual center of medieval Russia and a powerful fortress at the southern turn of the Moscow Principality. The fate of the Holy monastery is closely connected with the fate of Russia - it was besieged and ravaged by enemies, also there were times of prosperity and desolation. At the beginning of the twentieth century, due to contemporaries' opinions, Vysotsky monastery was one of the most comfortable abodes of the Fatherland. With the advent of Soviet power in 1918 of the monastery went under the provincial concentration camp. In 1928 Vysotsky monastery was finally closed. For decades, the ancient and once glorious abode was dilapidated and destroyed. In 1991 Vysotsky monastery was returned to the Orthodox Church, the revival of the ancient monastery began again.

We visited the monastery on our day trip prior to our visit to the Kubinka Tank Museum. The trip took about 1.5 hours to the monastery from central Moscow. The history of the monastery is fascinating. The Orthodox monastery was ordered to be built in 1398 by Prince Yuri and was finally built in the 15th century. The prince had wanted now St. Savva of Storozhi to start a monastic structure on the Storozhi Holm (Watching Hill). In 1650 Tsar Alexis had a residence built here and the large bell tower with a clock was also built. The cathedral does not allow photography and you should dress respectfully since this is an operational cathedral. The cathedral has 17th century paintings and the remains of 15th century frescoes and a five tiered iconostasis. The Bolsheviks ransacked the monastery and it was left in ruins until restoration started after 1985. The relics of St. Savva of Storozhi were returned to the monastery in 1998 and when we were there many Orthodox faithful were observed honoring the relics of the saint. There is a statue of the saint outside the monastery in a small park area. Outside the gate to the compound is a large map showing the locations of every feature of the site. There is an overlook on the start of a path around the outside walls. The view below is spectacular and I now know why this location is called "Watching Hill". There is a snack shop cafe outside the walls of the monastery that was closed when we were there.

For many years he came to work in Yoshkar-Ola, but could not get to this monument in any way. This time we managed to do it. The cat sits cross-legged on a bench in the public garden near the art museum on the right. A good place for a photo with the personification of the famous Russian expression - Yoshkin cat! It’s something like “Oh, my God”.

Varyazhsky Dvor means Viking's Yard in Russian but it actually has another - and by far simpler a name - Svargas which is translated from Indo-European as Sunny Sky. This is a purely private project which is sixteen years old. Their life has been tough - constant fight with local red tape and corruption, volatile cash-flow and even a direct arson attack from hostile competitors. They were burnt virtually to ashes (!!!) and reconstructed the whole thing with their own hands! (One can still see charred walls on the second (English - first) floor. To understand what goes on there please read a review by the guy from Vermont. I'd only add that you can also try a smashing old-style lunch there - Vikings' cabbage or pea (no rubbish cream!) soup and home-made ham hock (Haxe, Eisbein) with potatoes. But - attention! - this service is oursourced so please get in touch with the complex in advance and bear in mind that if the guys are missing there'll be absolutely no opportunity to even have a snack there. So mind it in the course of your planning. But if they ARE there then first thing to do upon arrival should be approaching them and making an order. Then go to their smithy, throw axes, shoot a bow, try chainmail and other medieval haute couture stuff, etc. 'coz in an hour the meals will be ready and you won't have to wait. Their parking is rather modest and this should be taken into account as well. And toilets... Mind-blowing smell. Get ready for a simple obsolete outhouse. Very disappointing. Apart from this - magnificent and very interesting. Recommended!

I visited Samara in June 2019. Samara Embankment is a nice place to walk. There are two-three very wide walkways going in parallel. A lot of small cafes and fast food booths, bike and scooter rentals are along the walkways. You can see a lost of street artists along the Embankment. Violins, guitars, drums, saxophones etc... ot from ti,e to time even orchestras! On the Volga beach right next to the Embankment you can see many volleyball courts, tennis courts and other sport sites.
