Been out wth Gemma and Kenny around 6 times over the years. Each trip has its own charms. This is a class act with really fantastic info on wildlife, geology and fauna from Kenny and Gemma. They give you just enough info without showing off. Been to Rona twice - fabulous! Half day trips the rest of the time.. woudl have liked to try and evening cruise but never did over the years. Now this is their last season...so if you have the opportunity before they finish in Sept 2017 - do not hesitate! Book yourself some seats and with luck..you will see sea eagles, seal for sure, porpoises if you go far out enough` wild goats on the shoreline and relax mid way with delicious home baking, tablet and hot drinks. Coming back to Shieldaig will not be the same without the Livingstones and Seaflower. All the best Gemma in this next stage of your life and to you too Kenny.

On the spur of the moment we hired a Katakanu for the hour and had the most fantastic time, as a family of four, paddling in the Loch. The kids particularly enjoyed it. Staff are friendly and laid back and I would say the hire...MoreMany thanks for coming along to try out our katakanus at Loch Lomond Shores. It's a great place to have a bit of fun on the water with the family. Thanks too for taking the time to give us a review. Much appreciated, Calum.

Narrow and steep road. Beautiful views of the coast and ocean from this road. the road itself is in very decent shape in the summer. However, it is tricky to find places to let cars pass. Two-way road on a single lane is a bit scary when you encounter a truck and you are driving a van.

Cannot rate this little trip on the loch highly enough! Lasts about an hour and Seals are guaranteed (or your money back!). We had so much fun. Callum is great and makes everyone feel welcome and part of the crew! Everyone smiled and laughed along the way and we did indeed see seals close up. This was an absolute highlight of our holiday.

Visited after a colleague recommended it, not disappointed, staff welcoming and friendly, we were kitted up just right for the trip. It’s not just about dolphins there was some nice points of interest in the local area given to us. We were fortunate enough to get to Close to dolphins and had a great view. The rib was comfortable and surprisingly despite the sea being choppy no sea sickness was felt and usually I sure quite bad. Will certainly be returning!

With high expectations from all the great TA reviews, I went to Aigas as part of a Road Scholar group - and Aigas met and exceeded all those expectations. My previous 2 weeks in Scotland had been as part of a photo tour that was long on photo ops, but extremely light on information about history, geology, lore, ecology, etc etc. The wonderfully trained, articulate and enthusiastic rangers at Aigas filled in all the gaps and then some.
Sir John's lecture about the history of the Highlands brought the Jacobite Rebellion and so much more into sharp focus, with application to US history and today's world situations. I could have listened for another hour. Lady Lucy's concern for the needs of her guests and the dietary peculiarities of each one make the meals a delight, and she, Hermione and the rest of the staff make it clear they will do their best to make everyone's stay as wonderful as they can. And everything is done with such ease and grace.
Thanks to all for a wonderful stay. I am sending my friends (and maybe will sneak back with one of them)!

Balblair Distillery

Balblair Distillery is a whisky distillery located in Edderton, Ross-Shire. It is one of the oldest running Distilleries in Scotland. Founded in 1790, by John Ross, we have been producing award-winning Highland Single Malt Scotch Whiskey since. Every year the distillery manager, John MacDonald, selects the whiskies that have reached the exact point of 'optimum maturation', the peak of perfection. That's why we only create Vintages, times to perfection. Balblair offers tours throughout the day with scheduled tours beginning at 11am and 2pm, we offer impromptu tours where possible so it is always worth calling. Balblair has a range of different Vintages for sale in the shop, as well as a hand selected Single Cask available for Hand Bottling.

We joined this tour with literally zero knowledge about whiskey. It was part of our cruise ship excursion to Invergordon. We had visited, Shin Falls, Dunrobin castle and the town of Golspie before coming here. We were welcomed by the amiable Scottish lady-guide who gave us a short briefing about the distillery. The tour became interesting when she brought us to the production area where we saw the different equipment which was used to make the whiskey. The processes and stages were explained one by one. Some terms were technical.
We were led to the warehouse where the barrels containing the aging whiskey were stored. It takes years to have real fine whiskey. The last part of the tour was a sampling of the whiskey. Balblair whiskey was really extraordinary- Aged to Perfection! We left the place having full appreciation of how whiskey is made and a little tipsy too.

Attadale Gardens

Attadale Gardens is a unique 20 acre garden on the south side of Loch Carron initially established by the Victorians with rhododendrons planted over the hillside. Over the past 40 years, Nicky Macpherson has transformed these Gardens with the creation of water Gardens with Monet Bridges and Waterfalls, planted with a painter's eye, a Japanese garden, a huge fern collection housed in a geodesic dome, a sunken fern garden as well as the traditional kitchen garden. The oldest part of the garden is the sunken garden with the giant sundial nearby. There is also a fascinating collection of sculpture scattered through the garden. There is a huge tree collection as well. A DIY tearoom serves homemade snacks, cakes and biscuits as well as tea, coffee & hot chocolate. There are photographs on display & reference books about gardening, which provides additional information for visitors. You can buy plants as well.

With a welcome as warm as the whisky, you'll be sure to leave satisfied after experiencing the world-famous Scottish hospitality at this 5* visitor attraction. Open all year, Glen Ord offers a range of tours to suit everyone; from the whisky novice to the connoisseur.

Reviewed By MrsMDevon - Plymouth, United Kingdom

My husband went on the Glen Ord tour which 45 minutes long, it started with an exhibition in the visitor centre about the history of the distillery which was informative. He was then taken around the distillery which he was then shown the main parts of the distillery process but there was nothing new on the tour that you would get if you'd visited a different distillery for a tour. So there was nothing distinctive about the tour, he had previously been on the Dalwhinnie tour and this tour felt very similar as to be expected as they are both part of the same group. An explanation of how the casks are reconditioned was given which was new information for him. The tasting involved tasting 3 whiskies and taking home a dram glass.
