Auditorium Orchestre National de Lyon

Reviewed By GYWX - Wexford, Ireland

Ahead of time we booked the concert of the Orchestre Nationale de Lyon and there were few places left. It is in the Auditorium, a very large arena, seating about 2000 with good acoustics even up at the back. There is very little seating in the reception area where we had to wait until they opened the doors an hour before the performance, A lot of stairs and poorly signed but we found our seats. There was a pre-concert talk about the Mozart bassoon concerto beside the café illustrated by five conservatory students, a nice touch. The main piece was the massive Shostakovich 10th which needed a hall of that size.
