Redondo Beach

I used to think that Manhattan Beach was the be all, end all of the South Bay. But you know what? I’m thinking South Redondo Beach is the real hidden gem!! I love it down here! Soooo much more mellow. Wider streets. Less traffic and WAY FEWER tourists! Also the sweeping views, without a water treatment plant right next to you is really breathtaking to look at. I love the breezy, hot summer days and the foggy marine layer mornings. My favorite time of day is around happy hour when the DOLPHINS come out to play!! They are awesome and I will never tire of watching them! I love being just a few steps away from the ocean and the Riviera village. So walkable, I love it! South Redondo is truly so lovely!

Torrance State Beach

Reviewed By KatrinaPa

I had part of a Saturday free while doing other things in Los Angeles and wanted to get a quick and easy "beach fix." Torrance beach was perfect for this. Parking was close, plentiful and inexpensive ($7 for the whole day). Even on a beautiful Saturday (11:00-2:00) the beach was not crowded and mostly populated by families. It is an amazingly clean beach, with very little seaweed (also very few shells). Within a ten minute walk is Riviera Village with lots of options for lunch or a quick snack. It was a great way for me to get some strolling beach time in with little fuss.

Veterans Park

Veterans Park overlooks the Pacific Ocean, it's a 3 minute walk from the pier and a great location for family/kids to hang out on a sunny day! Feel free to ride your bike too as there are bike racks as well! Kids will enjoy swings/running around. It's also the location where they host events on Veterans Day & Memorial Day...for sure a great place to check out with the family :)
