This 512 acre- parcel has been conserved by RLHT to forever ensure that this spectacular vista remains unspoiled. Located along the Rangeley Lakes National Scenic Byway and bordering the Maine Bureau of Public Lands, the Appalachian Trail, Mooselookmeguntic Lake and Bemis Stream, the “Height of Land” parcel is identified on virtually every map, tour guide, brochure and website that focuses on the Rangeley Lakes region. This spot provides one of the most stunning overlooks in New England. With magnificent views of Mooselookmeguntic and Richardson Lakes and the White Mountains, this forested lake landscape provides the perfect setting for artists, tourists and all who appreciate mountain air and spectacular scenery. RLHT purchased the 512-acre property in 2008 from a large timber company and is currently engaged in a campaign to complete the funding of the acquisition.

Short drive out of Rangeley about 10 miles south on Rt.17. On a clear day, you will experience amazing views in many directions. Definitely worth the time to drive there.

This was my first stop at Smalls Falls. It was fairly quiet the day I went. Weekends I bet it's crowded. The Falls have several levels. Climbing to the top is fairly easy but there are many tree roots, rocks and some muddy spots. You can walk along the chain link fence on the way back down so you have a hand hold. I didn't swim but there are great places to. Typical park bathrooms. Non-flush, fancy outhouse. Parking is good. I think I saw a small playground. Well worth a visit. Very pretty.

Wonderful history not being a gun fan or killing animals for sport but the museum takes you back to the time when that may have been necessary but not sure just think a lot of people came because Europe had over gamed, but interesting history and the docent was great

Love this hike! In some publications, it is listed as an easier family hike, but be forewarned, it is a little longer than advertised and does contain some longer steep segments later in the hike. (It's more moderate than "easy.") The panoramic views from the top of Rangeley and Mooselookmeguntic are fabulous. Trail is quite well maintained.

I've been stopping here for over 30 years and I never get tired of the location. The outhouse has improved; it's always clean and it is kept stocked every time we come by which is a bonus after being on the road for hours. The store is cute and we always stop in. The canyon, although not huge, is VERY picturesque and perfect to dip your feet (or body) in. I've taken many great pictures here over the years! It's great for a quick picnic too. We've see a lot of moose continuing on Rt. 17 from here to Rangeley!

This is the third summer we've come to Rangeley. Now that my youngest (who is very accident prone) is 5 we tried our first hike. We all loved it. The trail is boney and a little steep in spots but great fun. The views were great and we enjoyed a picnic on the rocks. We'll be back. I also wanted to mention the trail is really well marked. They must of made some improvements since previous comments.

We camped here for a long weekend and loved the location. The sites (ours was for a tent) were large and left plenty of room to park our truck and trailer. Great base camp for an adventurous weekend. The showers were the BEST state-park showers we've had - water temp and pressure were amazing! Lots of trails for hiking, easy boat/beach access and good sense of privacy.

Even though this place is kind of out of the way it's definitely worth checking out. The trail is marked very well, but it can be pretty slippery if you're not wearing proper footwear. Also you will have to climb over some rocks and cross couple of streams on rocks to get there. The trail itself it short but if you're clumsy it could be a painful hike up over the rocks.

If you want to understand Mainers, you need to take in this museum. Plan 1/2 hour to 45 minutes. There is a DVD to see and lots to look at.
