Race Course Grounds

We went here for an event called 'Fun Street' which takes place on Sunday mornings. There are lots of activities (mainly for children, but adults can join in too!) for free. I particularly enjoyed the tug-of-war- there were also art activities and lots of games.
The area is a beautiful green lung in the centre of Rajkot- apparently every morning (early) a road is closed to traffic here and people can walk and jog in peace.
There are some great sports facilities here including a full-size running track, a swimming pool and an indoor sports centre.
One of the pearls of Rajkot, highly recommended.

Beautiful architecture. The level of detail is amazing. Personally, I felt that we could do some more work to make the place look better. Not necessarily taking away the originality but just in terms of cleanliness, upkeep or we risk losing it to our environment.

This is the house where Mohandas K Gandhi's father, Karamchand Uttanchand Gandhi (Kaba Gandhi) resided at Rajkot, serving as Diwan (Prime Minister) to the King. Gandhi himself spent a few years of his early life here from 1881 to 1887. This is a typical Saurashtra dela type house with a central approach from an arched gateway. It was built on 1880-81 A.D. and today it depicts an interesting photo essay of his life.
