Jatmai Temple

Reviewed By SubhaRanjanP1 - Bilaspur, India

An ideal place for people who love nature and have interest in religion. If you want to hangout for a day with family, friends or alone during any long weekend or any consecutive holidays, this place must be checked out. But be careful with the stream. Children shall be taken care of. The managing committee of the temple has made some good arrangements like watch station to have a clear view of the stream, a makeshift bamboo bridge across the stream to reach the temple safely.

Somnath Temple

Its Lord Siva Temple, 40 KM from Raipur, near Simga, at river coast. Its Shivnath and Kharun river sangam. Boating available with local villager's boat. Its good weekend place. Food can be prepared near the river coast, need to carry gas or wood for fire. Have to take care as monkey are also there.

I had visited this place last in the year 1994 for a School Picnic. That time we didn't know the historic/religious importance of this place. After so many years, today I got an opportunity to visit this place. I hired a cab from my place at Raipur and I was at Somnath Temple within an hour. The Temple structure is that made of stone carving. Its a small structure, but one can feel that its few centuries old.The Shiva Linga is at least 3 feet tall and has a Majestic Aura around it. The Sangam of Shivnath and Kharoon Rivers is just about 100 meters away from the Temple. The view of the Sangam is just awesome. There is lot of greenery around the place. A nice place to visit for lovers of Old Temples and Devotees of Lord Shiva. A must visit if you have 3-4 hours in Raipur.
