What to do and see in Pula, Croatia: The Best Places and Tips
Pula is situated at the southern tip of the Istrian peninsula and is the area's largest city. Located beneath seven hills and with views of the Adriatic, Pula's unspoiled natural surroundings are magical. Known for its mild climate and tame, beautiful sea, Pula also has a long tradition of winemaking, fishing and shipbuilding. The Roman Amphitheater in Pula is definitely worth s visit if you are in the area. I visited on a sunny but cold February weekend. Admission for an adult is 50Kn (£5:95/€6:75/$8:30/¥884) with children and concessions costing 25Kn. They only accept Croatian cash (Kn) and DO NOT accept Euro’s or change Euro’s.
At the time I visited they were not proving the audio tour and the English speaking cashier said this service was only provided in the summer, not sure of the dates, but this was a little disappointing as the free leaflet is pretty limited with information.
The arena itself is pretty impressive, tastefully and well renovated, but in my opinion is severely lacking information boards, especially in the light of no audio tour being available.
The subterranean exhibition is good, with plenty of well placed and detailed information boards as well as artefacts found on the site.
Overall, well worth the money.

This stunning mosaic is gorgeous, sadly it's really not easy to find. Tucked away under a cover it looks like it may be sheltering building material. Pass through the car park and it's up an alleyway off the car park. You will find it, persevere as it's worth it. No signage or information about it, however one of the most complete mosaics I've witnessed.

Visited her with a 15 and 6 year old. Was very average. Lots of building work going on whilst we were there. Ok if you don't have anything else to do and want to kill time for an hour.

This beautiful ancient Roman temple of Augustus was badly damaged during world war 2 and with the help of two Italian builders it was painstakingly rebuilt using all the retrievable damaged stones and materials. So hats off to the two gentlemen that we could still marvel at this beauty of the old days. It’s location is in the middle of the old town square next to the Venetian styled town hall. Well worth a visit to appreciate Roman architecture.

Very nice building at the main square as you walk down the pedestrian area. During the summer season you will find many Performances of various kinds and some times marketsstalls producing local handicraft. Yes it is a very busy place and some Performances are good and some are for different generations. Enjoy.

The observation tower of the venetian fortress is the highest point in Pula so it offers a beatiful Panorama over the whole city. At night you have a nice view over the Arena which is lit up. Also from the fortress you can see the Small Roman Theatre. Here is also hosted a museum on the liberation of Istria from the fascists.

Placed just 2 kilometers away from the city center the winery offers you a taste of Istria by trying wines, brandys, cheese, olive oil and many other products. The winetasting was a great, the expirience was very intresting and relaxing in the heat. Katarina, our "guide", was very informative and nice. The wine was delicious, and we ended up buying several bottles, and went back another time just to enjoy a glas. We tried 5 different types of wine with a Istrian plate and cake, and where very satisfied, also the price was low, so we got a lot for the money.
We highly reccomend visiting the place.
