Azienda Agricola Sciglio - Le Api del Parco Paduli

The farm Sciglio - Bees of Paduli Park was born in Botrugno, in Salento, with 5500 hectares of olive groves in the Paduli Park, from my parents and my passion for beekeeping. The love for bees was started by my grandfather Umberto in the 40s and then my father Rocco who used to manage a sedentary apiary in the garden, producing honey for family use. The bees were kept in hives made of tuff called "Ucchie", the visits were reduced to a few per year and the production limited to just a few pounds. Today the farm practices rational beekeeping: bees are bred in wooden and wax beehives. The company Sciglio produces extracts and manufactures two different wildflower honeys, "ITO" and "ERT". The first, ITO, is a spring wildflower honey that is produced from March to May, according to the blooms. It has a light colour and a delicate flavor. The second, ERT, is a summer wildflower honey that is produced from June to August with an amber colour and an intense flavor. ITO and ERT are two types of wildflower honey that pay tribute to two great people, my grandparents: VITO, gentle and an introvert, and UMBERTO, exuberant and a dreamer. They have transmitted to me the love for our land and the passion for agriculture and beekeeping. Honey is added to the production of pollen and propolis.
