What to do and see in Puerto Aventuras, Quintana Roo: The Best Things to do

March 9, 2022 Etsuko Causey

Puerto Aventuras mingles tropical beauty with the riches of the sea. Beaches are fantastic, with powdery, white sand, and there's excellent fishing as well. For a fun day, explore the eco-archeological park Xcaret, or snorkel at Xel-ha, a natural inlet water park. The Mayan ruins at Tulum, only 25 minutes away, are another must-see.

Beautiful eco park with 5 crystal clear cenotes & underground river. We booked the tour thru the concierge at our condo. We chose the all inclusive tour which included a lunch, tour of all 5 cenotes & the underground river. We had a wonderful guide, Clemente who was friendly, knowledgeable & passionate about his country, the eco park & the incredible cenotes & underground river. The tour was well organized with adequate time spent at each of the cenotes, the tour of the underground river was spectacular. The waters of the cenotes were crystal clear, jumping off the cliff into one of the cenotes was tons of fun even for us older tourists. The outdoor atrium where lunch was served was peaceful & relaxing ... a fitting end to a wonderful adventure!

We arrived late afternoon and had the place all to ourselves. We brought our own snorkel gear but you can hire it on site and they provide life jackets. Our guide was very knowledgeable and swam round the cave with us using a torch to light up the different chambers. It was a really magical experience and definitely a highlight of our trip.

Adoratorio, Ruinas Chac-hal-al

Reviewed By nicoled09 - Winnipeg, Canada

The google maps directions to this spot are completely wrong. So much development has happened! So what we thought was a 20 minute walk turned into a 45 minute walk. So I would suggest renting golf carts. So many place have them for cheap. There is also a new community named after the ruins. There is a sign that says Caleta Chac-Hal-Al & has and arrow pointing into the community. That is the wrong way, just keep going straight. Once we got there it was totally worth the walk though! It was beautiful sandy bottom all around to swim around in. We tried snorkelling but didn’t have much luck. There was lots of seaweed at one end, but it was clear where we went swimming.
