Lovely stop on our way to Madrid. The modern upstairs contrasts vividly with the historic hand dug cellars and artefacts. The tour with Patricia was highly informative and interesting. Her English is very good and easy to understand. She answered all of our questions and suggested she take a group photo of us, which is a great momento. In addition to the wine tasting we were given the gift of wine glasses and a bottle of delicious red wine to take home. ???? Our sat nav had difficulty finding the square where we should have parked and we had to reverse out of a teeny tiny passage only wide enough for pedestrians or a bike. ???? The cellars are not really suitable for little kids or very tall people.

Bodegas Neleman, Casas del Rey - Valencia (Spain)

Bodegas Neleman’s range of organic and vegan wines are inspired by the lifestyle of Mediterranean Spain. It’s where the organic wine pioneer Derrick Neleman is bringing a modern approach to the craft of wine making. These in Valencia at Casas del Rey, one of the area’s highest points of Valencia in the heart of the Natural Park Hoces del Carbriel (UNESCO Biosphere Reserve), on very ancient soils from the Jurassic times. We farm indigenous varieties like Bobal, Tempranillo, Marselan, Monastrell, Garnacha, Verdil or Tardana (close to extinction). All carefully overseen to elaborate modern wines full of balance, richness and freshness. We do not use any pesticides or animal products for the elaboration. On the contrary, we just let the nature to do its work. For that, we also use traditional elaboration methods like fermenting in cement tanks, egg-shaped vats, maturing on lees, and aging in french oak. In 2019, Derrick Neleman was awarded as the Most Inspiring Entrepeneur of the Year.
