Fundacio Mona, Centre de Recuperacio de Primats

Fundació MONA was created to put an end to illegal trade, exploitation and abuse of primates in captivity, to report their real risk of extintion and to support their protection in the wild. Close to Girona, MONA has established one of the few animal sanctuaries in Europe that offers a home-for-life for chimps and other rescued primates, where they are able to live in natural surroundings. MONA is a place in which people become inspired, wish to further understand them, and develop a greater respect for them.

La Fageda d'en Jorda

Reviewed By santpedor - Barcelona, Spain

We visited at the end of October which is probably the best time to go. There were very few people around and we were able to wander around in blissful silence. The colours are amazing and the walking trails are clearly marked. At the end of our walk we took the horse drawn carriage which leaves from the main carpark. The ride takes about an hour and costs 10 euros for adults. I would highly recommend this ride as it takes you to a different part of the area.

Parc Natural dels Aiguamolls de l'Emporda

Reviewed By foxtail1 - Catawba, United States

I spent a lovely time here birdwatching. There are various habitats and a wide range of birds to see. There are a number of blinds for watching waterbirds. I visited midweek, so there were a number of school groups earlier in my visit, but it quieted down after noon.
