Cuneo (Italian) or Coni (French and Piedmontese) is a province in the southwest of the Piedmont region of Italy. To the west it borders on the French region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (departments of Alpes-Maritimes, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Hautes-Alpes). To the north it borders with the Metropolitan City of Turin. To the east it borders with the province of Asti. To the south it borders with the Ligurian provinces of Savona and Imperia. It is also known as La Provincia Granda, Piedmontese for "The Big Province", because it is the fourth largest province in Italy (following the provinces of Sassari, South Tyrol and Foggia) and the largest one in Piedmont. This was so much fun! Stefano (sommelier for the evening) is informative, very friendly, and makes for great conversation. The wines were absolutely delicious, the snacks were great, and the atmosphere was very inviting. An all around great experience that wine lovers are sure to enjoy!

The tour of Alba and underground is a walking tour with a private tour guide through the town center and it includes at least one underground archeological site. Known as the main town of the Langhe hills and the hometown of Nutella, Alba, in Italy, boasts medieval towers, baroque architecture and the cathedral with a precious wooden choir dated 1512. The tour of Alba and underground grants access to one or two archeological sites (depending on availability) with Roman ruins, foundations of medieval buildings and the original street level. On Saturday morning, then, the tour of Alba can wander throughout the produce market set by the Slow Food organization.

The four of us booked this tour with Meet Piemonte. They sent us the addresses of the two wineries which we would have never found on our own and a list of things to see in the area. Gorgeous cellars, both owners where so personable and treated us like family. Lunch was a starter, ravioli and dessert, not a huge meal but enough to carry on until dinner and great pairing with the wines of the first winery. We had some time in between wineries so we went to one of the big benches they recommend us and we took photos and enjoy some sunshine. This region is stunning and we will come back.

If you visit the area of Langhe, you love wine and if you love wine, you want to taste the wine. One thing to do: book One On The Hill. It is an amazing experience. Pierandrea is a good expert in wine and he drives you around (in his Tesla) to the nice vineyards to taste. He knows a lot about the region, the wine, the food to combine,... It's a nice man to have around, with a lot of knowledge. He has a good relationship with the vineyards and helps you on the spot with which wines to choose on an honest and respectful way. We are very glad we have met him, a friendship and expert to hold on to learn more about the wine and of all to buy local if we go on holiday :-). If you become a member of his Wine Club, you receive wines during the year, which is a wonderful concept. One thing on the side, but for our as parents so important. We have a 2 year old son, Luca, so we were doubting by doing the trip, but Pierandrea made a whole new program to adapt to our son, so big thank you for that. Bottom line: just do it!

We've organized a tailor made tour from our hotel in Milan. We've visited 3 wineries: all of them were very informative and well organized. Langhe and Piedmont are really amazing. The restaurant arranged for us was perfect. I highly recommend this wonderful tour for people like us that are staying in Italy for few days

Sunday early morning, grey and chilly air... "Daytime sleep is like the sin of the flesh" The mountain was hided by a low cloud but when we went up, here we are, the abbeys appear on top of the rock, strong and proud, majestic even and so humble at the same time. We made the tour on our own and we enjoyed a lot, following our instinct and timing. We just had to be out of the church by midday because of the Sunday mass - obvious. It is a touristic place but used by living monks! Don't forget, it is a beautiful location but most of all a religious mecca, a strong spiritual location on the Saint Michaels's line.
